Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I went and did every fix to battery reclaim Turing off

Features and services it all actually comes

Down to the 3G service aka cellular data  !!! If you simple turn off 3G

You will have your fix.. I'm also thinking its the personal hotspot

With in the 3G service cause I can not just disable personal

Hotspot it's done by turinging off 3G cellular data ,, if there can be a way

To just disable hotspot and leave on cellular data I'd be able to test more however

This will give you massive battery life all other so called fixes are nothing and do not

Really do much do turn back on your features and turn off cellular data when

    Not in use .. :))

Hmm, I looked at the URL here... It has something with apple in it...

With regards to all kind of battery reset methods, faulty batteries and changing all kinds of settings:

It all worked fine on 5.0 on my 4s.

I tried all of the above.

I have half my battery life it used to be, there is something wrong in 5.0.1.

I did the activation through my carrier, all went well with the transfer of all my contacts and everything else. I will make a trip tithe store or should I go to Verizon? Thanks for your help!!!! I haven't had any problems with my devices before, I have so many apple gadgets both IPad's ( why I'm not sure, but I do). Whenever I have gone to the genius bar they have been helpful but it was never for a major problem.

Seems like my standby time has improved. 10 hrs overnight dropped 4% which translates to 250 hrs. Overnight it fetched 7 emails, no notifications came in. So standby seems fine. For the past hour I've been reading emails and browsing only on wifi for 1 hr and it dropped 5%, so that's equal to 20 hrs of doing this - not sure if that is good or not but seems better after the iOS update and full cycle charge. I still have a few location services enabled, fetch 3 email accts every 15 min and have about a dozen apps enabled in notification ctr, brightness at about 60%, no bt, service runs 2-3 bars on 3G but am on wifi for data. Don't use voice much so not sure how that is on the battery. I do notice as others have mentioned that seeking signals while traveling does suck down more power. But I have not had a problem making it through a full day on a charge. Although no bettery fix was icluded, maybe the reboot for the iOS update cleared out a bad actor from memory.

    Having a droid phone before.

I think one of the MAIN problems is that some people are not updating their system on a FULLY charged battery. If you do so with a Droid phone by installing a rooted operating system or changing the kernel. You will have a problem with the bettery showing the correct amount in it. I tried the below settings and also turned off the icloud wifi sync and now the battery is working amazing well. I also have installed the battery doctor+ by Kingston. really suprised it isn't the default way of charing the battery !

EVERYONE TRY HARD RESETTING YOUR PHONES BEFORE POSTING HERE.

IT WORKED FOR ME LIKE IT HAS FOR EVERYONE ELSE WHO TRIED IT.

    TO HARD RESET:

    • HOLD DOWN HOME AND POWER BUTTONS SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR 10 SECONDS

    • THE PHONE SHUTS ITSELF DOWN (IGNORE THE NORMAL PROMPT TO TURN IT OFF)

    • ONCE IT SHUTS ITSELF DOWN, LET GO OF THE BUTTONS, IT'LL HARD RESET ON IT'S OWN.

    IT WORKED FOR ME !

If the removal of 3G off switch in 5 is the cause then it is a simple switch problem.

3G is better than 2G but is still an incredible power hog on low signals.

Well after posting last night and going through all the suggestions Nothing worked on my iPhone 4s and I called my network provider and they have confirmed its a fault with handset so will get a new one tomorrow. As a first tie Apple user I am a little annoyed after all the hype and how long it took people to convert me.

    Not impressed

UPDATE NOW FIXES BATTERY .... Run Software Update on your iPhone (Settings > General > Software Update) and get it right now. It took a few minutes for our phones to realize an update was available so be patient and don't worry—it's there

    enjoy your new battery life

Ive been losing between 5-15% battery power every night after charging and always have around 13 minutes usage showing when the phone has not been touched, updated the software and restored the phone on Friday evening and lost around 4% during the night, turned off 3g last night and after 14 hours im still on 100% but surprisingly usage is still at 7 minutes even though the phone has not been touched.

Has anyone else tried a full discharge and full recharge of their iPhone combined with a hard reset or two? I hadn't actually had any battery issues with my iPhone 4S or iPad 2 until the 5.0.1 update, though I did with my iPod Touch 4. Afterwards both my iPhone and iPad had issues, and my iPod Touch issues were worse.

So far it seems to have worked. Of course, it seems like I lucked out with a "good battery". I got my iPhone 4S on launch day from Sprint. I don't know if that makes any difference. I'm testing it out on the 'Phone and 'Touch. If the results are positive, as they have been so far, I'll do the same with the iPad.

6+ hours now and at 94%.

DrStrangePork's steps worked, when combined with the hard resets and I'm on o2 in the UK on 3G and it appears to be sorted.

Doesn't excuse or explain Apple's lack of a clue on this nor their inability to have properly QA'd the 5.0.1 upgrade. Now will have to debate use of the iCLUD full stop.
