Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Man, you created a script to trap words that trigger your automatic posting? Are you sure this respects the terms of use of the forum? It's like spam. I suggest your script breaches 4.1.

    So lame.

For my 4S, over the past week, I've done 3 hard resets, 3 soft resets, 2 restores, and 2 full battery drains and played with various settings.  My results have varied but overall still have very poor battery performance.  On my last restore which I completed last night, I did not set up email and have not run any apps.  I turned off almost all location services, notifications, Siri raise to speak, etc.  I completely drained the battery and recharge to full through my PC.  On stand-by without ever running anything on this virgin install, I am losing 4% to 5% charge per hour.  My full experience with battery issues are posted here:

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16717884#16717884

I will be returning my phone and replacing it with a new one.  Will post my update when I get a new phone.

Good luck on your return but you may want to consider plugging in and using the power cord shipped with the phone.

If it is an older phone there are other options. consider http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

This thread has become mass hysteria...

I guess a lot of people believe they have battery issues just becauase of this thread.

When you get a new toy like an Iphone you use it a lot. And ofcourse that would mean heavy draining of the battery.

There is a problem when the device drains when unused - and I think that is what most customers are complaining about.

Yes, but the thread is still out of control.

I guess many of the complainers don't know that a GPS app is running in the background.

For example if you have set a location reminder it drains fast due to the active GPS

After juggling with turning off/on various settings for almost a week, I have established that the most battery draining setting by far is 3G. When I turn it on it starts losing the juice at 10% per hour or more. Without it, it's 1-2% per hour. I'm on the Deutsche Telekom network in a major German city, so the coverage is fine. Maybe the new HSPA+ has some issues...
