Well, 3dmac is a real good point of reference. A flawless phone, and limited usage with maintenance. It's rated 40hrs audio, 8hrs 3G talk, 6hrs 3G web. So when you have no standby draining issues and you cure the phone, you stretch standby time. On the other hand, the more mail/notification/location/network centric app/config you enable, the more NOT ONLY do you get close to the common smallest factor i.e. 6hrs BUT ALSO you increase standby drain - because your apps and all poll 3G to update. It's basically as simple as that. Plus you have the IOS factor which might increase standby drain for some reasons on some setups - the out of control process/anti-antennagate-gate theories and there might also be some few defective units in the wild.

That's my opinion. But I don't own an Iphone lollll.

But you are right about curing the APP's

The way most of these heavy users use the phone, they will never get your usage stats. You said in your posts way back 30-40 mins per day of calls. You don't spell out how many mins of web per day. You don't have push/pull mail etc. What I witness is those guys constantly on the web, always looking at their FB/twitter statuses - every damned minute, consolidating 4 mail accounts, spending hours on the phone each day and they get notified about every minute about some thing. They will never get more than 6-8hrs out of it, and the more notifications, the more these hours will be contiguous. Apple 3G web testbed is 20 websites access + mail pull once per hour. (http://www.apple.com/iphone/battery.html). It is no longer realistic. Do they even take into account app polling?

Anyways. As I said maybe it was much more on the IP4, I don't use Iphones

Apple doesn't care about us. I've left multiple feedback comments, what's the point. I've lost all respect.

I've had no change in bat life since the update. Still losing 75% from morning to late afternoon with light usage (no 3G uasage or calling since AT&T ***** in my area and thanks to Apple I can no longer turn off my 3G).

They sold multiple millions of 4S's in the first month, those of us that complain don't mean a

thing to the Apple machine. Now that Steve has passed (RIP) this company is doomed :-(

I'd be very happy with that battery life mshan61 - I didn't realise that the Standby display could get into double-digits.

This update is on my  new iphone 4s which was replace 2 days ago. and i did update ios 5.01

and did reset as a new phone afer updating the software.

today i am draining my batttery and will charge full all night and see that  it helps more or not..

After update iOS 5.0.1 battery life of 4S has become a little bit better - now it lose 20-25% per night. But new problem has appeared - mobile connection doesn't work, I can't call or send sms although iphone shows availability of mobile connection.

This is ridiculous! This phone costs more than 800 euros but it's useless. Too many problems!

Deactivate the SIM PIN. This will fix your problem. I also had to deal with it!

I just bought iPhone 4s in New Zealand and another one in Australia for my sister. My bran new iPhone 4s have iOS 5.0.1 and battery is dying like 4-5% for every 15 minute without just using much. I have disabled iCloud etc. still no difference. Is apple really going to fix this. For a thousand dollar phone this is very disappointing. I am thinking to sell and go for Windows Phone 7 device.

What do you mean? SIM-PIN is currently turned off. Shoud I turn on it and then turn off again?

The onus should not be on us (the customer) to find a creative fix. Whether it works or not.

I've done the restore to factory settings and then set up phone as new. Reloaded all my music, contacts, etc. HOLY BATTERY USEAGE!! I was a 63% at 10pm. 330am my phone was DEAD ( not low, DEAD!) ***?!  I just got my phone 3 days ago. I'm about to use this thing as a hockey puck! (>_<)
