Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Sorry, but I have to ask this question.......    With so many people noting that their phones are literally draining the battery overnight, why would you not leave the phone on a charger while sleeping?   I have always charged my phones overnight.

    iPhone 4s 64gb

EVERYTHING ON, except Lift to activate Siri

Exchange email for work - PUSH

Yahoo (push) and Gmail (fetch 15min) personal mail

55min usage and 5hrs standby showing 81% remaining.

I use Battery Doctor Pro to manage the nightly charge.

With moderate usage, I have had no issues getting through the entire day on a single charge.   Not quite as good as my iPhone 4 was, but totally livable, givent that I leave all features on.

Well, of course.  The battery was dead, so I had to plug it in to get it to come back on.

Well, I normally do.  But you see, I upgraded to lion on my MBP and it gets real hot and the fan screams when it is on.  I only get about 2.5 hours on this thing whereas a week ago running 10.6, I easily got 8 hours.    So, I shut my computer down in which I normally plug in my iPhone.

I read about the battery issues on the iPhone 4s, so a couple days ago I charged it to 100%, went to bed, and when I woke up, it was still at 100%.  The only thing I have done since then is turn on iCloud.

right just thought i would update from past posts and rants at the weekend.

I wiped all settings and done a restore through iCloud

Let the phone run out of juice (did'nt take too long!!)

recharged fully and how its happenend i dont know but left the phone overnight, was on 100% and drained to 96% after 7 hours.

what i do notice is that if i switch my wi-fi off at home and as i use that only to connect using my iphone, the battery does drain more, as i do think that all the push apps, data apps and iCloud etc are trying to look for a connection, this does cause any smartphone to drain more quickly as it will keep on trying...until it is succesful in its operation.

If this is the cause then Apple need to address connection time out issues, if no data connections are available.

Not saying that this is the 'fix' but this is just my oberservations, so dont shout at me if it is not the case for anyone else.

My iphone is now lasting for at least a day and half between charges with all emails, calanders, icloud backup etc switched on and light to medium use.

Why does my usage increase with the phone sitting at idle?  What does usage represent?

Ive still got major issues with my iPhone 4s battery, I updated to iOS 5.0.1 on Friday and it has done no good what so ever.  Apple need to sort this out rapid or I will be getting rid of my iPhone and getting a different device.

There was no change to the battery life of my iPhone 4s with the 5.01 update. It is still very poor. During the night time, when I dont use the phone, the battery goes down from 100% to 65%. This is similar to my 3GS with activated UMTS. But at 3GS I have the choice to disable UMTS service and than the battery life was ok.

I hate to say I have the same problem, since getting 5.01 my battery meter has become a nice little countdown timer..... Sat in work and hardly used it today, turned off location services and wifi fi and its down to 52% from a full charge in the morning. silly me was all excited about my first iPhone, I hope they fix this soon.

Ive spoken to Vodafone in the UK and have told them about the issues with my battery and they have told me that they are going to exchange my iphone for a new one.  But the problem is they dont have any in stock.  So I am now left with a phone that wont last the full day.

I charged my phone to 100% this morning and have not really used it apart fromt the emails coming in and I am down to 77% of charge.  My iPhone 4 would be still in the 90% area by now.

iOS 5.0.1 has eliminated the lag 5.0 introduced to my iPod Touch 4th gen- but the battery life seems to have taken a hit. Light wifi use takes the battery down a great deal, whereas it would last for ages before! :'(

    Hi,

I try to disable these services : FaceTime, Itunes, Ping, Installing Apps, Deleting Apps (and  Siri).

To do this you can go in settings -> general -> Restrictions and turn off the corresponding services.

With this procedure, the battery life is extended to almost 48 hours on my iphone 4S.

In my case I think the problem is in the FaceTime service or in Install /Delete Apps service.

I hope this is useful and sorry for my english.
