Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I would just hang on a bit with the yellow tint thing. Apparently it goes away. It is a symptom of the bonding process between the touch panel and the glass. It sometimes take a while bit to dry internally (maybe a few weeks). It should go away. If it doesn't then there may be some kind of issue.

My 4S could last for 9 - 10 hrs in iOS 5, but now it only has 7 - 8 hrs after updated to iOS 5.0.1...i'm so disappointed.

After using a few days with iOS 5.0.1, i do agree that it drains my battery more than iOS 5.0.

What i did was restore it in iTunes, reload the iOS 5.0.1 in full from iTunes (instead of OTA delta updates previously)... restore my data from iCloud backup. Now it is running ok... doesnt drain as much. But still not as good as iOS 5.0.

I am think, Apple rushed 5.0.1 out to patch the security hole found in java script for legitimate approved apps, and since it reportedly solved some people's batttery issues, so they decided to release it ASAP.

Watch out for 5.0.2,... it could be out in a few weeks. Because battery drain issues are not completely solved.

Well after doing the suggestion I said before above.

I have been using the phone, and after 12 1/2 hours I still have 51% battery left !

Please don't give false hopes to unsuspecting users. It is not a battery usage contest - Apple spelled out the specs. You can put a voice-only sim in the phone and use it for 40hrs playing mp3 on it. But that's useless. What people want to know is how much internet/call usage they're going to get... and it's not 24hrs. No offense.

Test suggests iPhone battery issue not a hardware problem

Not suprising, as IOS5/5.0.1 introduced problems on some pre-4S handsets that were fine before. Plus earlier on today our friend RogerfromFrance had had all the issues and no fix would work... yet he swapped his sim card and reactivated with his carrier and for the moment his problems are gone. But there are still tons of vectors to the software issue... and the test in the article doesn't rule out hardware problems per se, even though it may not be the gist of the problems we're seeing... But let's face it, for the end user, a problem is a problem, whatever the cause. I mean, if you buy a car and the motor overheats because the software controlling the fuel injection is faulty, well, it's not a hardware problem... but so what? You're still entitled to a working car or a refund.

The thing is. I have watched part of a movie. Surfed the net a lot. Talked on the phone a few times. Texted numerous people. Used siri. Played games.

But till I did my suggestion. It was eating the battery alive. I could literally watch the battery drop down with no use at all..

Great! So you're saying 5.0.1 fixed your excessive draining during standby and usage - but you needed to reset before it happened. So there's progress for some users.

It looks the fix is kicking in slowly, I did the 5.0.1 a few days ago and the battery life is getting better and better after couple recharges.

My concern is having to turn off many of the feartures of the phone.  You spend alot of money on the phone and you should be able to use the features of the phone.

Anybody know if Apple is intending to put out another update to iOS5 for battery life?

You have always been able to go back to oe iOS.

You need to just USB. Connect to iTunes and do a factory restore!!

    Then reload all your data.

Just to chime in. I've been having problems with the iPhone 4S battery since iOS 5.0. Thought I would hold out till 5.0.1 but it's still bad. Fully charged at 100% this morning. Did a couple hours of internet browsing and two calls for a few minutes, and tonight (9:15) it's down to 22% ! Quite bad, and I have nearly every notification and location based service off. I really hope it's a software issue and they can patch it up, because this is pretty jarring.

I have not tried a full restore yet. Does that work? I understand you're suppose to redownload your apps and such, and not restore from a backup?

    Best,

    Walker
