Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

My battery life is terrible. Downloaded the new software upgrade this morning and the battery life seems to be worse. It is draining about 10%/hour while not being in use. Please fix asap.

Whatever i try nothing works left my phone in aeroplane mode yesterday night lost 3% in hours 9 standby which was great.

    Day before 14% on 3g standby in 9 - 10 hours standby.

Day before that 30% on wifi standby in about 9 - 10 hours standby.

usage wasnt go up as much in 3g maybe 2- 5 mins per hour problably getin emails.

how can wifi be chewing up more battery than 3g in standby i just dont get it apple needs to look here.

2 minute browsing just now on wifi some message i lost 4% down to 93% started at 97% 30 minutes ago.

Its working out best i leave my phone in 3G rather than wifi.

This is definately a software issue!!

Hmm so it looks I'm not the first to notice it...

I called the store manager from where I bought my device and she said I was the first one who called about that problem....

Lets hope it is fixed fast cause it is really terrible at the moment...

I have a white Iphone 4s with iOS 5.0.1 and I still have the same battery issue as before. I've turned off bluetooth, location services, turned push to manual, dimmed the screen and I still notice my phone draining fater than it should...

    *sigh*

OMG, the apple rep I spoke to over the phone yesterday also said the same thing!  That she was the first to hear about this issue.  I'm now contemplating going to the Samsung Galaxy II S.  my husband has that phone and it's pretty cool.  I might not even keep the genius appointment.  I'm researching the galaxy now.

Another disappointed long time iPhone customer.  I can't believe how bad the battery drain is.  I even updated to iOS 5.01.  In sleep mode it drains by the end of the work day.  Don't you think someone would have noticed this when they were testing?

yeah i set up as new phone and disabled wifi syncing. The phantom usage stops when i go into 3g standby and it looses much less battery then on wifi.

my 4s battery seemed to be ok once i had disabled the time zone and used the other tips posted on this site but just like alot of people since updating to ios 5.0.1 my battery seems to have gotten worse and im losing 2% a minute when browsing on home wifi

other problems that i have include:

    • phone has lost the network signal and goes into search mode on no less than 8 occasions
    • phone seems to have the same signal bars as my 4 did.
    • internet browsing is not very consistent when using 3g

i understand when bringing out a new model that there are always minor problems but everything that has been upgraded to be better than the 4 doesnt seem to be.

Samething for me. The battery life is horrible....it loose 1-2% per 3-4 minute when i'm using it. On standby mode, during the night i lost around 15-20%. I hope apple will do something more than an update! It's my first Iphone ever and it's not a good experience.

I'm having similar issues to cam326.  Outside of the battery drain issue, the original iOS 5 did not create any obvious trouble for me.  After applying the update, I have had issues with network connectivity on both 3G and Wifi.

    • On WIFI yesterday, everything still showed as connected, but I could not bring up web pages or check e-mail.  I tried dropping to 3G, but it did not work either.  I had to cycle power on my iPhone 4S to regain connectivity.
    • The same thing happened twice for me on 3G yesterday as well.

Hoping 5.0.2 comes out soon.  Connectivity loss is more frustrating than battery drain.

My question is, does posting the problem here do any good? It would be nice if someone at apple would respond HERE in this forum, that our concerns are being addressed.  When hear that the Reps say "this is the first I have heard of this" What  hole do they have their heads in??? You cannot pick up a paper without reading about this!
