Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I totally agree with you. The problem is in the data cell. If you hold off cellular data transmission, the battery life is over 8 hours, taking wifi turned on, in on some locales, and in off the cellular data.

I use iphone in Italy and do not understand why it was removed the option to use the phone in 2G or 3G. Unfortunately, making 4S compatible with network 2G, 3G and 4G forces the hardware to a high battery consumption. This time Apple has made a mistake which I think is not remedied.

Taking into account the cost of the 4S is a very serious fault.

My iphone 4s was a bit better on 5.0 , after update it became worse , i read several newpaper via 4s and listened some music for about 35 minutes , it drained 11% procent.

    Siri = OFF .

    Location all off except weather

    , Push off manually.

    brightness half

    Notification almost all off

i noticed that on wife it last a bit longer than in 3G mode.

i really expect apple fix but really really definitly fix this issue in there coming updates which supposed to be release on 25 November.

We want the solution from Apple iPhone 4s battery problem

When will the solution or is proposed to consider new iPhone 4s hardware is modified

Or another proposal, modified to fit the compensating iPhone 4s batteries

And we believe that the iPhone4 not affected by the problem of battery with the last update in iso 5.0, but the battery level has also influenced

Only the iPhone 4s battery manufacturers defect

And imbalances in the battery is quite clear that it doesn't assume the possibilities of new iPhone 4s

    Hi folks,

I have the same problem as you others. My battery is draining when connected to cellurar network (my iOS version is currently 5.0.1). My iPhone 4s is usable only for approximately 5hours 30mins

I have also an issue that my iPhone 4s is not sometimes charged to 100% but only to 96% for example as a maximum. Here is the screenshot http://pic.twitter.com/gPadbGex

I am really disappointed of iPhone 4s battery lifetime...

    Cheers, Lukas

    Hi parish_chap.

Currently I am testing to see if you can select , sync and reselect sync the wifi sync option again to see if this would 'reset' something in iTunes/IOS/iCloud . You would then be free of the battery bug and still have wifi sync.

Like mentioned before : this bug shows when migrating from a previous iPhone save. If you have the wifi sync option enabled in your save, it will be enabled in your new setup as well. Then the bug shows up.

Results will be online in a few hours here : buxbusters

Well, I disabled Wi-Fi Sync and...it got much worse

This morning it was only 58%!!!!!

    Usage stats were

    Usage: 3 Hours 3 Mins

    Standby: 6 Hours 38 Mins

Sorry if this has already been discovered but I think I've cracked the issue. It is definitely to do with 3G connectivity. I am on my second 4S, and it has performed exactly the same as the first i.e. standby time is acceptable but any usage whatsoever drains the battery at 1% every 1-2 mins. The fact that two handsets both set up from new and both with all the suspect settings switched off (timezone, push, location settings, etc) made me rule out a hardware issue.

Then started comparing battery life when on airplane mode with '3G on' mode and it was chalk and cheese. I'm now convinced that it has something to do with the antena switching. Just wish that Apple would sort it out!

I also have a crap battery life, but when you turn almost everything, you do get a very good battery life.

Turn it on to check it out :

    Turn off:

    - wifi

    - siri

    - icloud

    - imessage & facetime

    - Cellular data

    - bluetooth

    - location services

Then you will get a very good battery life

And yes i know that is not what we want, this is a solution until apple comes out with a solution that works.

Turn back on step by step what you want to use and check how mutch battery lost you got, i think it is det cellular data that drains/tap the battery.

Definitely convinced is a 3G / antenna problem...when switching to Wifi only, battery doesn't drain so much under use.

I hope this is something to do with firmware in the broadband chipset. If it's a hardware design problem then a fix is going to be difficult if not impossible.

I don't think, that's a practical solution for everyone. I turned everything on, except BT, and my 4s runs about 2,5 days standby with 9 hours REAL usage! And the 3G network here isn't really strong.

But last night i had a 4 hour "phantom" usage while i was sleeping, and my battery lost 14% over night, all nights before only 5-7%. What was different now? I got my 4s about 1 month ago, never had any battery issues. Last evening i reloaded the iphone for first time BEFORE it runs out of power, so i made no reset. And this time i used the original power adapter delivered with iphone instead of the one from iPad.

Maybe the battery issue is just a wrong calculated battery level? Or the energy management isn't work correctly sometimes, so the system runs full throttled even if it's not necessary? I don't think it is a hardware issue, i guess it must be something within new iOS 5.

prkgs982 - You have 2 choices to achieve what you want to do. Either you can find a post if you know the exact page, go to that page, click reply to it specifically, then click the "quote" button (little cloud with quotes) in the editor, which will copy the content of the post you are replying to. So if you had done that to your post on page 372, you would be quoting yourself and you can edit out parts if you want...

You can also just add a link like I'm doing here by going to the editor, clicking the link icon (blue A with chain), selecting the "All content" tab, then adding some criteria, like the person's handle. In this case I added "prkgs982" to the "who" item, and I searched for the term "off topic" as I remembered you were saying that in the post. I found the item, and you have the possibility of seeing an excerp to confirm it's the right post, then you simply click "insert" and voila. Good luck with your future post editing!

    @1AppleADayNoWay

Thanks a lot for your instruction. This is an off line topic again. I did 2 ways like you showed. The second way is easier . Maybe I should say "10ApplesADayYes". Just kidding Have a good day!

I have a feeling that 4Gs is not ready to release in the market, and Apple is getting their product test for free. We are identifying all the problems for them. Just on this forum, everyone is isolating all the variables, turning on / off of each functions, which save time then having their limited number of employees going through these test.
