Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    Hello, from Greece....

You can add one more iphone 4S user with battery problem.

It is been a week since the 4S being sold to Greece and I was one of the first fools that bought it.

I'm a heavy user (about 2-3 hours talktime per day) and my old iphone 4 could last even for two full days. But that crap doesn't even last one full day.

I don't know if Apple's problem but for sure is my problem that I paid 789 Euro for something not even as good as my previous iphone 4.

I have to mention that my iphone 4 haw been updated to 5.0.1 without any battery problem.

I' m going to demand a full refound from Apple if the problem will not be solved the next days....

hey Apple we are not as fools as you tend to believe....

This is getting nuts! How can this not be getting more national news?

I have had my settings the same since I got my IP4 a year ago. The battery would get me almost a day and half. I upgraded as Apple asked me, started using the features as I thought they would be beneficial too me. Now I can only get 4 to 5 hours out of the battery and it is constantky hot.

Now here is the kicker. I am using a different laptop in my vehicle that does not have itunes on it, no icloud, nothing to do with apple at all. Since 4:30 this morning when I unplugged my phone till now I am at 74%. My problem has got to be the syncing or something to that effect with my laptop. My phone is not hot either. Just something to think about for all.

I did some of the things recommended on this thread yesterday. I restored from new . I have quite a few things turned off, blue tooth, push.  I had updated to 5.0.1 several days ago. Just got my phone Saturday. Prior to restoring my standby and  usage was exactly the same. Now I am on 1.5 hours usage 21 hours standby, battery at 78%.  A big improvement! I am happy it is doing better.

This is my 2nd 4s the first one I got on Saturday had a problem in 90% of outgoing calls I made I couldn't hear the dial tone or the people on the other end. I went down to the Apple Store Sunday and they replaced the phone. Then to have the battery issue was frustrating.

I am on AT&T and have a 16gb black phone.

Make a smartphone as dumb as a brick. Disable everything? A $500+ Smartphone at that. Great.

What else could I buy with $500? A new laptop?

I just got off the phone with AT&T and Apple at the same time. Apple still is in denial about the hardware problem it is facing. It will be a huge loss to th company to admit that it is an issue and it so greatly affecting many fo their customers.

I would hate to have to go to an Android so I will probably put the $500 back into my pocket if the new phone has the same problem. And stick to my iPhone 4. I may not have Siri, but vlingo can get most of the stuff done.

Here is a little help from UK and it's solved my problems. I had my internet set up to Yahoo, which sycnc your contacts etc. This was doing that at the same time iCloud was, so I reset my device and wiped everything.

Rather than set up through Yahoo now, I have set up manually and these looks to have improved things no end.

One thing I can't understand though is Apple's decision to remove your choice of 3G network on the 4S. I used to switch that off on my iPohne 4 as when you get into a weak signal area, the phone is looking for multiple signals.

    Whose bright idea was that?

I truely think there was some hardware issue. My phone was an example. I read somewhere in this forum, somebody had the same issue. He/She came to the Apple Store and they did battery diagnose test and it turned out the battery was defected. New products will always have small percent chance that has SW, HW issue. So you might want to check it out. I returned my phone for the exactly same reason. Why did I purchase a smartphone and the only thing I could do was making phone calls and texting? And even with those two features, the battery was just dying. Forget about You Tube or Safari. If I didn't plug into PC when I wanted to watch them, battery would be gone in matter of 2 hours.

    Battery Meter Issue

I was seeing a kind of quick drop in battery life all of a sudden.  I had gone from 92% to 84% in a few minutes time.  So I killed all the apps in the multi-task bar and did a quick restart.  When the phone finished restarting the battery meter is showing 90%

    Seems odd to me.

I have a iPod Touch 64Gb and after the last IOS update my battery life drops quickly after full charge.   Running IOS 5.0.1.   Until that, it was fine.

Ha, ha, ha, 1AppleADayNoWay, but seriously, this is a big problem.    What's apple doing about it, and how else can we communicate to apple?

My guess is that between the 392 pages here and news stories all over the media, APPLE is well aware of the problem.........

Why on earth would you install 5.0.1 AFTER exchanging the phone? I would have left at 5.0

I call it the "tamagotchi feeding syndrome"...  where people tend to compulsively feed the smartphone all the latest updates without verifying the impact - so they'll spend hours tweaking and updating and installing stuff they never use and all. Yet they can't even clean the screen and lightly disinfect it, despite what the latest studies show in terms of grossness of the smartphones - we all know smartphone users carry and use their phones in the bathroom... yep. So next time your friend wants to show you something on his phone, don't be so keen on taking it with your hands...

I've followed all the advice given on this site.

The longest standby I have experienced so far is 32 hrs.

What is confusing is the usage is 28 hrs, the phone is hardly used.

    How is this possible?

Out of interest, I read on another forum that there was an issue with the use of t-mobile microsims (what i am using), is there any truth in this?

    Thanks
