Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

that seems to be phantomusage?  my iphone has phantom usage to! and always half of standby time -.-

    that's what i had.

phantom usage has stoped for me when

i strarted to use a new micro SIM card.

2 other users here have reported they solved

    the problem this way.

So waiting for Apple fix you can also try this

mainly if you are using SIM from your "old" IP4.

Okay, I took this pic before going to sleep. I shut off all running applications!

I woke up after 10 hours, and immediately took another pic!

What the...? Not to mention the battery dropped by 12%, but the usage has gone up by 45 mins?!

I'm using the latest iOS update. And my "Siri: Raise To Speak" option was OFF, so I have no idea what is causing this!

Just to add some further observations. My wife and I have the same phones: 4s/black/32 gb/ Sprint. After the 5.01 patch our phones are draining faster, in fact my wife's phone takes longer to charge. I've run tests simultaneously with both phones starting at fully discharged batteries to 100% charged. I've tested the phones straight out with no background apps, wifi, Bluetooth, locations disabled, and ran both phones full tilt with non-stop Rhapsody playing non-stop. I've lurked on other threads and have tried the suggested settings and workarounds. Our workaround is to keep the phones on standby, locked, and tethered to mobile and house hold chargers. Patiently waiting for 5.02.

Just shut down rise to speak for siri. Thus eliminating the IR to be on while phone screen is on

Let's see if that does anythiung.

When I first bought the iPhone 4S the batter life was awful but they released iOS 5.0.1 to try and make the software less power consuming. It didn't help at all, however I found that by turning the PUSH settings for Mail, contacts and calenders to manual my battery life has increased substantially and I now get a full days use out of one overnight charge! This might not work for everyone but it did for me

Finally had enough of unaceptable battery life with my 64 gb 4s on Vodafone in the uk.. Couldn't get to 5pm on a full charge.

Tried all the tricks in the forum and the update on the software and made no difference, so got an appointment to have it replaced, and they duly did a brand new exchange, the tech guys then watched as the new phone straight out of the box dropped 10% while we were filling out the paperwork. So I insisted on them giving me yet another brand new phone, which they did,

The second replacement is perfect .... Charged over night to 100% and by bed time was at 44% (average usage), left it off charge over night and it only dropped 3% on standby.

I have every thing turned on so no compromises with what I can and can't use.. A great result

For all the people who have been trying all sorts of fixes, as I have, the best and only fix is to insist on it being replaced as they do work, when not faulty..

    Good luck

I've only been using mine for 5 days now, and the little battery symbol tells me it is fully charged, but the percentage only reads 95%. I have followed just about every word of advice for optimizing battery life but haven't read anything like this. If this has been a problem for anyone else, let me know, and if you somehow solved it.

The problem has seemed to have solved itself, after I plugged it into my Macbook it charged back up to 100%.
