Greetings from Adelaide Australia.
Long time reader, first time poster... My 32GB white iPhone 4S had woeful battery life to begin with. I got it on release day and was so disappointed. My first iPhone and first smart phone struggled to make 8 hours before dying. I read all the posts and faithfully turned everything off. Managed a whole day but as we all know the bells and whistles are why we didn't buy a dumb phone.
I installed 5.0.1 when it was released (not remembering the perils of early adopting) and saw no change. But after my third reset all settings something clicked and the drain has stopped!! I now get About 7.5 hour of use and 35 hours standby. My use is mainly Internet on both wifi and 3G with some texting and a few emails. Actually quit a lot is just mucking about with settings. My settings are:
Wifi on, ask to join networks on
Notification centre on for weather, stocks, messages, phone, calendar, reminders, a few apps (not FB).
Location services are on for any app that might need them eg maps, around me, camera weather etc. off for angry birds etc. also off for traffic, time zone, iAds. Diagnostic data is not sent. Compas calibration and mobile network search are on.
Brightness is at about 45% with auto on.
Siri is on, raise to speak is off.
Bluetooth is off as I don't have any devices.
iCloud is on for everything but mail and backed up every night over wifi while charging.
I have only 1 email - gmail which is set to manual fetch.
I'm looking for advice... My phones never been connected to my computer as it was broken. It's now fixed and I want to put my iTunes library on my phone. What is the safest way of doing this without re triggering a battery drain issue. It seems others have had syncing issues and I don't want to kill my phone now that it almost works.
Any advice greatly appreciated oh wise people of the thread.
