Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

just discovered that thread. I'm reall unhappy about the way Apple is dealing with us. I spent 1000$ for an iphone 4s and the battery is not working. Apple is simply cumulating problems, Lions is a failure, moving Me to iCloud is a failure and now we have the hardware issues on the iPhone. Wonder how shareholder and analyst will react when they will read those discussions, because believe me they do.

I have managed my 4s to last around 40 hours by doing following things:

    1. Turn on the airplane mode before I go to sleep so that alarm can be on.

    2. Turn off the cellar network and only turn it on when i use it. During weekdays, I use it for half an hour and weekends could be used more.

otherwise, the battery will drain quickly and it won't even last 20 hours.

Hope it can help to protect your precious gear.

    Guys lets not forget

    THESE ARE BRAND NEW PHONES.

WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE TAKING THESE APART AND FIDDLING WITH ALL THESE SETTINGS JUST TO GET IT IN THE BALLPARK OF FUNCTIONAL!!!!

THAT IS PART OF THE DEAL WHEN YOU BUY A NEW PRODUCT.

In a way we are paying for the peace of mind of knowing this will work, out of the box, all this mucking around is time and energy we shouldn't have to be expending on something that aint working in the first place.

I agree with you, what is the point in buying a phone for all it's features and turning all the feature off to support a horrible batter problem. Apple should fix this or get out of the phone business.

Who cares about a great patentable ui when the phone dies and has to recharged every 12 hours.

Apple needs to prove that they will stand behind their products. The thousands of posts here are mostly users, in good faith, trying to solve a major problem. I may as well add that my phone seems to hold a charge better when I put my left shoe on first. Let's face it, we are NOT Apple techies and they need to first and foremost--take this issue seriously. IMO, Apple should:

    1) admit issue and let customers know that they are actively working on a fix and will stand behind their products

    2) Allow immediate downgrades to Iphone 4 for those that want

    3) refunds for those that want as this is a new product

I believe a large percentage of people will hold on to their phones as not everyone is having issues so as not to dramatically impact Apples bottom line. If they elect to follow history, deny issue, begrudgingly throw bandaids at it slowly as the media gets involved and never truly fix the issue, they will alienate their customer base and WILL dramatically impact their bottom line in the future. Apple already has an uphill battle due to stubborness with glitches in the past.

I also have serial beginning with C3

I lose 20-25 percent battery usage per hour still (see other posts)

Battery dead after 3.5 hours, no gaming or video, just on twitter

Going back for third time to apple store tomorrow. If they do not have a definitive answer to the battery issue, or an ETA of an update, I am returning the phone.  Will get an android.  Siri is a nice touch, but this is an unprecedented battery drain, and apple is silent on the issue and evidently ( based on that silence) do not care

I disabled all location services except map, disabled siri, deleted yahoo and set mail to manual and if I used an app I shut it down so nothing ever multitasked.  in this time frame i had one phone call that lasted 11 minutes and sent and received 1 text message.

I still think there is something running somewhere that i cant see

this is a screen shot of my iphone 4s  the second is my wifes iphone 4 bought 1 month before mine

GF7PE, why is your phone showing a purple arrow at the top (means that location services are in use) when you said you disabled everything?

Go to Settings, then location services, and post a picture of the entire page. THEN, click on "system services" at the bottom of "setttings" and post another picture. Somewhere, your phone is killing itself with that purple arrow...

Hmm still no answer from apple or other sites

I just think its a hardware issue and they won't change anything because just a "few" people have those problems.

I'll wait the next week if there is still no update I will get the Galaxy S2 for me and my gf. I don't like that Samsung phone but its 200 € cheaper and works without turning off all its functions. Its just worth its money...

Maybe you can count me for the iphone 5, apple.

Good luck for the other people. Especially those who made contracts. That's soo bad mannered from Apple to stay silent for 2 months...

Is the general conencous now that the battery problem only affects models who serial beins sit DNPG, or are other serial models having problems too?
