Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I tried everything, really everything and nothing works for me.

    Yesterday i have done following:

I used an other PC, installed itunes and made an update with a downloaded ipsw.

My Battery is really ok since this.

I have actually an uptime more than 1 Day an 60% of battery.

Maybe theres some  crap on our PC/Itunes?

This opens up another mystery... mine had trouble when i was sync-ing with itunes on my windows notebook. I restored everything, and decided to sync it with itunes on my newer macbook instead... and the trouble went away.

Any stats here about possibility of corrupted iTunes on Windows machine vs Mac which causes the drain?

    Hi 1AppleADayNoWay,

i don't need the V8 - i need a phone ;-) with correct tec spec and a manufacturer which is not lying all the time.

Now i paid premium price for rubbish - i was thinking apple works, but this is not true.

The history of conversations with the support:

first conversation: we apologize, it is a big thing, still searching for the reason, please make a reset (5.0.1 update was already done)

second conversation: we appologize about this software malfunction, we work with high pressure on it, you are not the only one with problems, we don't want you to go like that, thank you for your patience

third conversation: there is no problem with the iphone 4s and battery consumption, maybe you have another hardware problems, do you know how to switch off the not needed functions and apps? If not, go to the genius bar, they show you that.

May i remeber to the official statement on latest software 5.0.1 "we adress some issues but not all in this context". What have they done after that: NOTHING - but there are no more problems!

The whole story is a bad joke.

I was on the call with Apple last week - talked about the lack of the 2g/3g toggle. Conversation went like this

Me: That toggle is in every 3G capable iPhone... and I bought the 4s assuming that it'll be there .... is that a unreasonable assumption. I need that toggle coz my home 3G connection is crap and the IP4s doesn't auto switch to 2G

Customer Service: Then its a network problem, do speak to your service provider. The 2g/3g toggle is an old functionality ..... there's no need for it as the IP4s will automatically switch. It is also not right to assume anything

    -------------------

So guys, please don't assume that APPLE will always introduce quality products that just work

Battery drains like a tap, connections keeps dropping - what else could be worst?

After the 5.0.1 update - not a word from the firm ... no apologies... NOTHING

Took off my prisoner uniform went ahead and got myself a Galaxy G2 - couldn't be happier

    Hello again,

Like i said after i´ve done the master reset to my 4S i got much better life battery. I went from 1 day to 2 days. Then i continued testing and i started to have 3G and/or Wi fi always ON and i could see my battery running low more fasten losing half a day. Last night i turned off 3G and Wi Fi and from 9.00pm till 7.15 am the battery went from 66% to 63% which is very good and quite different from having those features ON. So i can presume that one thing that is taking lot´s of energy from 4S battery is the network/3G/wi-fi.

Do you guys think that this could be solved with a new IOS update?

    Thanks

I am experiencing battery drain of about 3 - 3.5% per hour (while on standby, no use with most things turned off). Is this normal?  Thanks guys.

Indeed for most of the iPhone 4S users the battery drain issue comes from 3G connection.

If one lives in an are with no 3G coverage and only EDGE coverage then he or she will have great battery life.

Do you guys think that this could be solved with a new IOS update?

In order to solve something somebody has FIRST to acknoledge officially (i.e. put an annoucement on their website) that there is a problem. Obviously Apple has solved the battery problem (this is their oppinion) in iOS 5.0.1. Now Apple is not working on it but instead it is working on iOS 5.1 which is in beta 2 phase. Apple is focusing now on adding new features to iOS.

To me it looks like Apple thinks that iPhone 4S and/or iOS 5.X.X should always stay connected to the 3G network even if one is connected to Wifi or even if the EDGE network has much better signal than the 3G!!! This means that there is a very small posibilitty that we will see 3G toggle in the future on iOS 5.X.X from Apple.

OMG... This is a horrible answer to have from the customer service!

Obviously the iPhone 4S cannot detect when it has good coverage and always it chooses the bad coverage network (e.g. 3G) instead the good coverage network (e.g. 2G)!

At first, users are surprised and confused.

It follows a call for help.

    Discomposure is spreading.

    It leads to despair.

    And the to anger.

Empowered consumers learn and draw their conclusions for the future.

Looks good, this would be enough for me. Not 3h Usage and 36h operation time!
