Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

seems like 4g-16gb and 4s-32gb is having different battery performance. found that my 4s-16gb(black) has very good battery performace. but my 4s-32gb(white) has the battery problem like the rest. guys, i feel we might be able to narrow down problem if you guys can post in this format:

    4s, 16gb, black etc..

Quingg, once you have the file downloaded (http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4//041-3417.20111215.Slnt4/iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406 _Restore.ipsw), open iTunes with your iPhone connected to your PC. Click on your iPhone name on the left side of the home iTunes screen. Once the home screen for your iPhone opens, you need to hold the shift key and click on the "check for update" button. This will bring up a window to navigate to the file that was downloaded and you can start the update process by clicking on the downloaded file name.

This updated file is meant for use only with an iPhone 4s.

    Hey Fred,

This Galaxy is indeed worth exploring.

Bought one as a temp phone to tie me over before Apple release its 5.1 update.

Used it for a couple of day and now I can't bring myself to use the IP4S again

    Cheers!

On Nov 18th I replied to this thread that I restored from new and was getting much better battery life. Example: standby 2 days 6 hours, usage 5 hours 40 minutes.  I was satisfied with that.  A few days ago I synch my phones to itunes on my lap top  and again I am getting crappy battery life. My standby and usage are equal again 10 hours and 55 minutes and 56% battery life . I've texted a few times today but haven't played any games. I have most things turned off. I really don't want to restore again as I finally got all my apps into subfolders etc. Thinking of making a genius appt. Not sure if that is a waste of time. Did something happen when I synched. I updated my itunes today and re-synched no change.

Did you sync with PC or Mac?

    Which iTunes version?

Hi - my usage time and standby time are also idential - 1 day 8 hours since last full charge. Which prob means that something is running in the background even with the 4S on standby? If only I could tell what it is.......

    My iPhone: 4s 32GB

I'm conviced about this too. I can feel that my phone is warmer than it should when it is on standby and the battery runs down fast. Sometimes it is ok, but suddenly it goes on a spree and looses battery fast, it is so annoying.

I have an iPad 2 which I am very satisfied with, and bought the iPhone 4s in good faith, it does not live up to my expectaion to be a premium product at a premium price.

I have a 32GB black 4S too. Same battery problem. Phantom usage is crazy. Always 2/3 of standby time.

I'm getting about 5hours of usage, and 1day standby time with almost everything disabled.

Wich i think is a realy poor battery life for a 700$+ phone.

I bougth the 4s for what it can do..not for what it COULD do...

It is also realy dissapointing to see how such a company as Apple has little or no respect
for its customers (no decent explanation or info/date when they will fix this).

I think that majority of iPhones 4S have battery issues (except those cases where is no 3G network coverage ["3G network" <> "3G-data"/"cellular-data"]). The specifications shows that the iPhone 4S should last in standby ~8 days. In real life situations iPhone 4s lasts in majority of cases ~1.5 days.

If one would buy a car for which its manufacturer says that it takes ~15 miles per gallon BUT in real life situations would get ~80 miles per gallon then one would get the car changed immediately and an acknowledgement that indeed it is something wrong with the car.

I would be happy to get in real life situations even 50% of the ~8 days for my iPhone 4S. I would even get over it. But come on... ~1.5 days which is ~33% of ~8 days is just too low!

I think its gonna be the best thing, i read some ppl sayin that 5.1 beta dont fix battery problem.
Today released here in Brazil 4GS....poor ppl, phone for 4h

I dont wanna leave apple, i have other products...but this battery problem is a epic fail. And if they dont fix it on next update, more ppl wil leave iPhone =/

From these reports iOS 5.1 beta 2 seems to give a big improvement on battery life:
