Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

OK reporting back on my useage last night.  I got 9 hours useage in the evening where I made a couple of calls.  was texting and used a sports app to check scores.  My battery was at 35%,  Still disappointing.  considering that I was not really heavily using the device.  So, it is better since I went into Apple, but no where near the battery life of my brother's Iphone 4. I have decided to put on a juice pack (Mophie) to make me not afraid to use the device.  APPLE this is truly sad.  That I have to use an external device to make your device work for me. I hope when you do decide to fix this issue.  that you at least add in the option for us to switch to 2G at our choice to save some additional battery life.

This happens sometimes with some phones, It happened to me on my old HTC.

Basically to solve this, you should let the battery die completely (0%), then once it has died, charge it to 100%.

The problem you are having is sometimes a common issue with new phones, the battery just hadn't had enough time to 'Mature'

    Thanks, hope this helps.

Have you reviewed the battery saver settings for your iPhone yet?

Another reason I have thought of is that with the new A5 chip, it could use up more battery?

    Just a thought.

I just can't believe Apple hasn't done anything to rectify this common problem.  I am not kidding I am at the point of ditching my Iphone 4s and switching to Galaxy Nexus (but waiting to hear of any battery problems with them)... but at the very least going back to Nexus S that my buddy uses with no problem.  I switched back to Apple from Blackberry and now I am wondering if I should have stayed with BB..sigh

This is truely a weird occurance, especially as Apple claim for the 4S to have better battery.

I would recommend Phoning Apple cusomer support to try and get some answers.

You can phone them from this number: 0844 209 0611

    Hope this helps.

    Hey Guys...Hope it Helps:

I had that problem with my 4s that shows the same time on the use/standby mode. And my battery was losing about 5% per hour (without even touching it). I did almost everything:  Restart, reboot, delete almost all apps, drain the battery...So I read that u need to restore it on Itunes. Did it and it seems to be fine now. I little bit strange on the usage time, i think. But the battery has improved and it´s showing now, after 1 hour unpluged, 21 minutes of use and 1 hour on stand by...I will post more in the future...hope it helps some people. Sorry for the english, i´m from Brazil and bought the phone in Canada...I just wanna add something...I agree with others saying that Apple should at least comment about it. I Paid 733 dolars on a phone and when had this problem with battery, was very frustrated ´cause a lot of people were having it too. I tought...so why didn´t i get an iphone 4, instead of a 4s?

    Greetings for all...

Hi all.... Quick update... I've just received my Fifth one and it is exactly the same poor quality battery. Did all the fixes; set up as new; downloaded latest firmware through iTunes.... Etc etc. Call me defeatist but I'm starting to think that there aren't any iPhone 4s out there with good battery life.... I've certainly not heard of any!!!!

    Please apple..... Sort it!

Hi Laura. Maybe you just have too much expectations from dual core phone? I really think Apple did a houge mistake giving such optimistic numbers for battery life. Ok, software is optimized to hardware, but people C'mon. Two days moderate usage is the best you can get. It is not an Nokia with monochromatic display.

Apple shuld be more realistic. Yea right. The best phone yet, it is not. It is the best Apple phone yet, and give realistic figures.

Personally to me is frustrating that battery drain is totaly random.

Ok, 30% of stand buy per hour is sick, but 2-3% with data on is ok.

    Come on guys.

    What do you expect from:

    1. Dual core phone

    2. Retina display

    3. Siri

    4. multi-tasking

Come on, it's only a phone, jsut pick like a £2.50 portable charger from amazon, maybe that will stop you all moaning

Today is my fourth day as owner of iphone 4s and I'm not a happy customer. In particular, I am very disappointed with the battery, which drains so quickly (over 10% every hour while in active mode). I mainly use the iphone to check e-mails and read news - i bought this iphone because i like its camera and that i never owned anything from Apple and i wanted to see what all the fuss was about with apple and jobs. In order to save battery I have to keep the phone in standby mode when it drains about 1% to 2% per hour. I've never had this ridiculous problem with my blackberry and nokia smart phone.
