Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    3. Turn off system location services timezone and iAd (settings -> location services -> system services)

I´ve noticed that the location services icon (purple arrow) was always purple. After turning off timezone and iAd now it is always gray, unless I'm using an application with location services.

I didn't reset my settings, just turned off some unused services and cellular data (but keep wifi on).

I hope this helps me save some battery, I'm getting 5-10% battery drain per hour.

But I really want to keep using 3G, believe it or not, is faster and more stable than my corporate wifi service.

I'll get back with my results.

    Thanks

You should really run the reset of settings as described . 5 to 10%  an hour drain is not going to be attributed to just the two items you turned off. If you follow the procedure exactly it does not delete your data and only takes a few minutes to complete (other than the battery drain/recharge)

So I'm from Sourh Africa, was one of the few who got the first IPhone 4S in the country. Eager awaiting siri and the new

Phone (been using an iPhone since the first day it came out) I have been very dissapointed with the phones battery as well as Siri. Siri isn't bad considering my accent, but you cannot do much if you are living outside of the USA. Siri aside, the battery is horrendous!!! My iPhone 4 got 3x better battery life!! This is my 4th full charge cycle

Now, I have been browsing the web and sent a few texts and

My battery is already on 78% (1 hour of standby time and 34 min of usage)

As a business man not having a phone that will last a day is not on, especially when they promote a

Better battery life with the new 4S!!

Please help apple, I'm a big fan and always have been, but don't let me down now!! My friends Androids are catching up ALOT quicker than expected!!

The constant full discharge and recharge will not help but will further decrease your battery's total life.  Once a month is Apples recommendation. Anyway have you tried the"reset all settings" process? Its documented in several places. I would highly recommend doing it if you havent. Only takes a few minutes and keeps your data and apps intact. Also if you can live without wifi sync turn that off as well.

The first iphone 4s was terrible on battery life, then I returned and changed a new one. Here is the screenshot of my battery stats. This to me is acceptable, but still when using the phone, it still drops 1% every several minutes. P.S: wifi off, everything else off when not using the phone; turned all the hidden buttons off. This is just the first test for my phone, will turn wifi on during standby and see how it works.photo.PNG

    @alohabj73

This looks promising. Would you care sharing the first few digits of your serial number?

If some of the problem is hardware related, I wonder if Apple will sliently fix this issue where newer phones have

    better battery.

Remember how later models of iPhone 4 did not have the antenna "death grip" problem

Doesn't look promising at all if you have to turn everything off just to get a decent battery life :/

Well I have an iPhone 4S but I do not seem a major problem, it does go out a little fast but not too fast. I did research it, so what I found out was that it is a software bug, thus, almost every iOS device which upgraded to iOS 5 had the problem. If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_version_history#iOS_5.x:_Fifth_major_OS_release and then scroll down to 5.0.1 and 5.1 (as of the time of my post), on the right side it will show "Attempted to fix battery drain bug" and "Attempts to fix battery life." So for now, turn off bluetooth and cellular data. Just keep updating!

That Wikipedia article needs editing then as it's misleading...

5.0.1 was intended to address battery drain issue, but didn't for many users, and introduced horrendous battery for many others.

That Wikipedia article then goes on to cite a tiny article by some website that gives no details/sources, other than to claim a battery drain fix is coming in 5.1

Apple's documentation for software they wrote and released contains no mention of a fix for the battery issue in 5.1 betas.

It would of course be nice if Apple a) admitted there is a widespread issue and b) did something about it, but they haven't.

You can get your hopes up that 5.1 will fix the issue if/when generally released based on 2 lines on some dodgy "journalist's" website, or accept Apple's documentation - there's no fix coming as there's no issue to fix.

Just return the phone for a refund and get one from another company that has a decent battery life.

I'm gettint these results after going through all the steps referenced in this post. I guess this is not bad, it's like my iPhone 4 (I also deleted my iCloud account and stoped wifi sync)

    Same problems here

icloud doesnt sync with the default calendar in outlook

battery on 4s drains 3 times as fast as on 4 - same set up

I was persuaded to try apple products

I conclude that Apple products are **** and apple services are even shittier

Apple service & support is non existant - no solution for either problem has been delivered!
