Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

can anyone explain to me why when I fully charge my phone, after half hour of standby and some minutes of usage it drops to 99% or 98% and when i restart my phone it goes to 100% and stays there for about 1.5 hour standby and 15-20 minutes usage ???

Yes,  I agree. The battery life of iPhone 4S is miserable in my opinion. I am curious how the battery life of iPhone 4S compares to the your Samsung Galaxy s2? Is it more or less the same? I am asking because I thinking to switch to Samsung Galaxy S2 from iPhone 4s.

Well my GS II was lasting me around 26-30 hours of usage combined. BUT that was with EVERYTHING turned ON. So cellular data was on, occassional Wifi, full push notifications etc. Also I was using the international variant (GT-i9100) that came with a smaller 1650 mAH battery. The new models all have 1850 mAH batteries so that means more juice.

And I guess you're right. With no software upgrades after so much time I think there must be a hardware problem. Should I return this phone for a refund then?

I am experiencing the same problem with my white 32GB iPhone 4S. I have 20 apps downloaded from the App Store, which went down from 75 apps after I restored the iPhone as a new phone. I don't have Skype or Viber. I sleep for about 8 hours and at least 20% of battery is gone, with all apps off and wifi, bluetooth, and cellular network switched off. I've been reading posts from an hour and haven't found anything useful. I switched off most location services (time zone, traffic, etc.). I really don't know what to do about this.

My iPhone 4S would be dead in less than 12 hours with EVERYTHING on exactly as your Samsung Galaxy S2!!! This makes me gelous!!!

It is your choice! BUT I can tell you what I am doing! I am out of the 30 day period return period and now I am trying to get a refund for my iPhone 4S while dealing with Apple. The returning process for me now is quite painful because Apple is using every trick in the  book (e.g. blaming the carrier for the static noise, sending me to repair store, restoring my iPhone, telling that the "battery" is fine even that the iPhone 4S would die in less than 12 hours with everything ON, etc.) in oder not to give me a refund!

    Rycm,

You have Bluetooh on - that will drain the battery pretty fast. If you're not using Bluetooth, try disabling it.

The problem is that I'm quite in love with the iPhone and its ecosystem. I'm just not an Android person and I don't know what I'll buy after getting my iPhone 4S refunded. Android is out of the question. If only the battery could be fixed. 26-30 hours of usage with everything turned ON would make me very happy with the iPhone 4S.

Genuine Q - why do you need EVERYTHING turned on 24/7?

If you're travelling and not near a WiFi network why not turn off WifI? Ditto, unless you're using location services why do you need them on?

can somebody please help me regarding my questions?

i just got my iphone 4s white 16gb this week.

when i got it and used it for a couple of hours, then the battery life reached 0% and it turned off.

i charged it but not fully because i was sleepy, then when i wake up, and used it for a couple of hours,

the battery is dead(i also noticed it has a battery issue, turned everything off). so i charged it up to 100%.

but still i can barely notice that everytime i use it, every 2-3 minutes 1% is reduced. i also had it reset. it didn't worked.

i usually charge it 2 hours, but some says that they charge it overnight or for about 4 hours, but how? i only charge it for 2 hours because it reaches 100% with plug sign after 2 hours of charging, i directly unplugged it. my question is, is anyone here continues to charge it even though it reaches 100% with a plug sign? and is your iphone charging time is really 4 hours? because mine is that in just 2 hours it is 100% full with plug sign..

hope you guys could help me..

I think this issue should be a priority.

I know that some apps (games) consume very much battery, but in a normal day of work I want my 4s to read emails, to call, go to the internet and the battery last at least 1 day.

I love my 4s but the battery issue is a problem that must be solved.

Turning bluetooth off don't seem to improve it by very much. I am still draining about 1-2% per hour when it's idle.

But as soon as I use it (web, mail) it goes down pretty rapidly.

Apple should make some quick shortcut key to switch ON/OFF the wi-fi, bluetooth features.

I toyed with my brother's Samsung note (big big handset), and it has a swipe down shortcut to switch the wifi, bluetooth on some other features on or off.

Here the issue is not how one uses the iPhone 4S. The issue here is that the battery life is miserable on iPhone 4S compared to iPhone 4 (with iOS 4.X.X) or any-android-phone-of-your-choice with the same usage pattern and same settings!!!!

Turning off and on Wifi and cellular Data is really time consuming on iPhone 4s! Also iPhone 4S is supposed to be a smartphone and figure out by itself when WIFI and 3G are not used but it does not! With plenty of settings off all the time the iPhone 4S is like a very expensive music player with dumb phone capabilities!!! At least I tought that I am buying a smart phone and not very expensive dumb phone with music player!!!!

Ditto, unless you're using location services why do you need them on?

Again, this is not about how one uses the iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S like iPhone 4 should figure out but itself when a feature is not used but obviously it does not!

What about iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.X (and not 4s)?
