Somewhere back 200+ pages ago in this thread, I made the claim that this battery problem is all about iOS5 and it's management of cellular data. Some firmware element, intended to deal with the new dual antenna is draining the battery quickly when accessing 3G for data. When I am connected to Wifi, my battery problems disappear, both at home and at the office. As soon as I drift away from wifi and begin accessing 3G for data, my battery starts draining rapidly.
I have changed nothing on my phone. Only lift to activate Siri is off and Time Zone location setting is off. EVERYTHING else is on, including BT, Push, notifications, etc..... Because I am attached to wifi most of the day, I easily get through 24hrs with a single charge. On those few days where I wander away, I need to have a charger with me.
Since the problem follows iOS5 across other models besides the 4s, logic dictates that it is a firmware problem. When I made this claim weeks ago, it was simply dismissed as not true. Unfortunately, it is true and those who choose to disable and restore their phones every weeks are going to find that in the end, they are wasting their time.
Will iOS5.1 fix the problem? Nobody knows for sure, but I'm encouraged that APPLE is not simply rushing out anoither FIX to satisfy the crazies who are nearly suicidal over a telephone....... I'm hoping they take whatever time is necessary to get it right............

Well same problem here.
I have the following scenario:
- if I turn off Cellular data, then the battery drain seems somehow ok (1% / hr)
- if I turn Cellular data back on, battery lasts max 8 hours if I'm lucky
From this I guess there should be a problem with how phone is handling 3g data.
If I browse with safari over WiFi (same page), the phone keeps normal temperature, nothing to notice really.
If I browse the same page over 3g phone gets warm all around the antennas and on the back - to that extent that it's uncomfortable to hold... And the battery drain is like 1%/minute even when doing nothing on occasions.
I also noticed that when cellular data is turned on iphone keeps loosing signal and reconnecting to the network with occasional "no service" and "searching..." on the bar...

Turning 3g data off fixes some of the problems for me for now to make the phone usable when I am in wi-fi range.
Should I return the phone due to overheating while on 3G or are you experiencing the same phone heat in the back while using it on the 3g?
To stop the battery drain I did everything that was mentioned but couldnt make it stop (I tried restoring, resetting,..)
