Sorry to disabuse you of this notion, but NOT ALL USERS HAVE BATTERY ISSUES!  Mine works just fine, and so do others, unless you believe that all the articles about the 4S written by various people over the world are just lies.  I have read several that actually brag on their battery life compared to earlier phones they owned.  ME for one.

Does that mean no one has battery issues?  Certainly not.  Some have pretty obivous hardware issues, and others seem to have 'rogue tasks' running that sap the battery and run up the 'usage' figures beyond reason.  Others seem to have unreasonable expectations.  If you are in the first two categories, you certainly deserve a fix, whether hardware, or software.

I can well imagine that if a user moves around on the fringe of usable 3G service, and his phone won't stay on 2G, but continues to search for a usable 3G signal, cranking up the transmitter all the time to reach a 3G tower, that forcing the phone to 2G would save appreciable battery power.

So, you have about 7 hours since full charge, and you have only used only 21% of the battery?  I hope you realize that most users would consider that really wonderful.  Projecting, you would need to recharge about 3PM tomorrow.  Surely once a day recharging isn't too much effort.

Thanks for dispelling some of the myths running around here.

One additonal point of information.  Your iPhone is designed to make sure you can't deep discharge your battery, so it will shut down when it reaches a point about 20% above the deep discharge point.  Note this is the same point used to maximize life of the Toyota Prius battery pack.  The iPhone manual suggests the first full charge discharge (until the phone cuts off), cycle in order to calibrate the meter function.

settings>general>date and time>set automatically>turned off. that's it.
set manually your location.

it solves the battery drain issue for me now i am 7hrs standby on 92% battery indicator.

Before December 20th, I had 3-4% battery drainage on standby in 7 hours during my sleep. You think 20% is good compared to 3-4% for 7 hours overnight? I guess not. Still think my battery is "great"?

I would advise you try that and set-up as 'new phone' before persuing a replacement.

Great. I will do the DFU restore once I am done with my mid-year exams and I will tell you how it goes. Thanks for being helpful. Greatly appreciate it.

Battery life is just pathetic. Have turned off everything. Done everything that has been suggested on this thread and still stuggle to make it 7 hours without having to charge it again.

Your comments basically blames most of the time the people and very very few times the iPhone 4S!!! You just assume that people who have problems with the battery of iPhone 4S do not know how to use a phone and what to expect from a phone!

Again, rphunte42, this forum is not about how the people are using iPhone 4S!!!! This forum is about complains regarding the battery life of the iPhone 4S!!!! Here most of the people are comparing the battery life of:

1) iPhone 4S versus iPhone 4,

2) iPhone 4S versus iPhone 3GS,

3) iPhone 4S versus whatever-phone-you-want.

Rphunte42, this forum is not about telling to people who own an iPhone 4S that:

1) they have unreasonable expectations, and

2) their iPhone 4S has no battery life problem when they clearly state that they do have one, and

3) they play games on their iPhone 4s until it dies!

Are you RPHUNTE42 expecting or will you get any financial benefits or gifts from Apple in the future? (I have asked this question from you before but I got no answer)

Well, would you look at that??!!

After removing the SIM Card (now i basically have a heavier iPod touch standing there lol), the Waiting/Usage time are now correct and i'm seeing a good battery behaviour...

Waiting time - 11hours;

Usage time - 9 minutes;

Still have 95%.

Could it be the SIM??? It's a new one (already had 2 because of "No SIM/Invalid SIM" issue)...

This shows that the battery itself is fine, and it's not the problem...

Now, is it the SIM? Is it the phone (SIM tray, the SIM reader...or something like that)? Or is it just a compability issue, caused by a hardware problem, software problem, or both?

The main problem is that this isn't easy to narrow down!

But, at least, now i know for sure that the battery itself is ok!

If you can, try it and see what happens...

This shows also that the CPU of the iPhone 4S is not the one to blame for the battery life issue!!!

Battery Life...Just my Opinion... (but it works much better now!) Over these past 591 pages I have added a few posts concerning my experiences with the poor battery life problems. On one post I said the ""IR" sensor for Siri was always on even when Siri was off. I think that was a huge contributer to my battery drain. You can check yours with a basic digital camera held in front of the sensor. This lead me to take the phone back to Apple, got it replaced with another 4s which had IOS 5.0 installed. Probably an early iPhone release I suppose. Anyway, I'm not upgrading, no matter what, to IOS 5.0.1 or anything else until I start reading more positive results about battery concerns. I have done all the things mentioned as far as turning off functions etc. but nothing worked on my previous iPhone. This one appears to be working just fine. I think you all are wasting your time with all that you are trying with this phone and its current IOS. Getting aggravated with the phone and each other on here as well. It's just not worth it, is it?
