Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

If the 5.1 B3 helps with the battery life - maybe only because of the new toggle (2G-3G).

Have you put iOS 5.1 beta 3 on your iPhone 4S? If yes, does it really improve the battery life in your case?

The new iPhone 5 shall have six additional hardware switsches on the side for every function (Cellular data, WiFi, BT, Push, Location, iCloud - like for the sound). I don't like to many clicks/taps to switch functions on/off...

    I agree !

Has anyone got iOS 5.1 beta 3 on iPhone 4s here?

If you got it, please let us know here how is your battery life in your case!

I see no point in arguing with you, you're to thick skulled to actually listen.

Apple is coming out with iOs 5.1, which is likely to address all issues,  and thats why it's taking so long.

If it doesn't, well Apple screwed up.

Not to side anyone here.... but hey, Apple already screwed up big time with IOS 5 and 5.0.1

We're all in the same boat - and hopefully Apple will fix our problems with this new 5.1 update

From a consumer viewpoint - feedbacks (sometimes in the form of complains) do serve its purpose.

Look at how things are playing out now.....

Also some people are more vocal and aggressive than others..  therefore its understandable to see highly emotional remarks flying around here.  For me, I'm more sympathic than irritated to see those comments

4S on 5.1b3, standby is OK but in terms of usage, it will still drop 1% for every 3 minutes of usage no matter what I am doing, no matter if I am on 3G, WiFi or Edge.

It is to bad because iphone is best phone I have ever had in my life

Ok. Do you have the link to that german forum? I could take a look to it using Google Translator!

Too bad I don't live in the US where there are Apple stores. I live in Dubai therefore there aren't isn't any Apple store, only Apple resellers. So I don't know if I'm going to be able to refund/exchange after such a long time but I will pursue them after the release of 5.1. I think the problem lies with serial number that starts with DN (according to @marc-man - https://discussions.apple.com/message/17259821#17259821) and C3 has better battery. I'll do everything to keep my iPhone's battery at the most. This is my first iPhone and I'm not really satisfied.

Then you will have to either pursue a refund/exchange, or wait for 5.1 and hope it does some good.

I have tried everything - restoring as a new phone, resetting settings, switching off almost everything, emptying the battery then recharging to full. Everything. And nothing worked.

AliAR - Just like in Portugal...there is no Apple Store here

As you might have known, i've come to the conclusion that my draining problem is somehow related to the Micro-SIM (and also with my phone being a DN):

    - With it, i have 1day and 6 hours of battery lifetime, with more or less 20hours of usage time (which isn't real! Real usage time - about 45m/1hour);

    - Without it, i'm currently with 1day and 9hours of waiting time and 20minutes of usage time, and my meter marks 80% left!!

So, there's something going on here!!

My question is: if i send my iPhone to repair, how will the techs know what the problem is?

The phone is going without the SIM Card...once in their hands, without my SIM Card, the phone will behave like it's doing now: Excellent!

If i'm lucky (usually i'm not!!), the phone will not present the same behaviour when they put their SIM Card to run some tests, and start behaving like it does with my SIM Card...but what if it doesn't???

What if the problem is caused by the Carrier? I already called my service provider in Portugal (TMN) that said to me, after checking network configuration, that there is nothing wrong with the SIM that could generate the draining problem...

    Can you see my dilema??

I'm waiting for the 5.1 before sending it, but i'm pretty sure that it's not going to solve the issue...i'm kind of like the fool in the middle of the bridge: "Which side will i go, left or right??? Or should i stay put???"

But without sim card(at all) your iphone is not using 3g .

In that case your batterz life has to be better

    At 4% remaining

    Usage: 5hours, 49mins

    Standby: 17hours, 15mins

    This is with:

    Location Services Off

    Auto Date and Time Off

    Minimal 3G usage

    Medium brightness

    Is this good enough guys?

When I turn on the Location Service, it drains faster. I kinda want that ON always.
