Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

After searching at website. It works for me about battery issue. IT WORKS .

    1. Go to Settiings / General / Siri / turn off Raise to speak and then reboot.

(A sensor upper the earphone is continuing on even if you turn it off, YOU MUST REBOOT YOUR IPHONE.)

I think that it is the major problem about battery drain.

    2. Go to Settings / Location Services / System Services / Turn off Setting Time Zone

    3. Go to Settings / Notifications / Turn off Calendar or move to Not in Notification Center

(this may be not need but I don't use this function, so I turn it off.)

My idea, try to Reset all Settings (top column at reset page) first, I like a clean reset all settings and then do 1,2,3.

Also looking forward to some cell phone free travelling, shopping, beach, and residential usage restrictions, with cell phone blocking techiques gallore.

Actual blocking of cell phone reception is illegal in the US.  Not to say it doesn't happen, just that you could get in trouble for it.  As for clubs making rules against cell phone  use in certain public areas, I strongly support this.  I don't see shopping malls beaches, or residences being restricted as this would be hard to enforce, and quite unpopular.  I particularly like the convenience of the iPhone silent switch.  It saved my embarrassment at a recent funeral.  Worse, it was a wrong number... I am old enough to remember when only police and doctors ever got phone calls in restaurants, and then they brought out the old dial phone on a LONG cord.

Has anyone figured anythiing out yet?  I did a full w/trickle charge last night to 100%  Today I used the phone maybe 1/2 hour or 45 minutes and I am down to 35% charge.  On my iPhone 4 I would charge every few days.  Seems with the iPhone 4s I will have to charge it every night or more.  I lost 20% on my 4 overnight. I wonder if it has something to do with the wireless sync. start over with a new phone. Support was willing to send me a new phone, I am keeping the case open for a few days to see if there is an acknowledgement and/or forthcoming update.  I'd rather not have ot  I'm holding for support now.  I tried turning location services off and loss 4% in 14 minutes, only thing I was doing was reading a book with the Kindle App. have been using iPhone 4 and the battery has been OK but since getting the 4s I am experiencing terrible battery drain in comparison. I thought the battery was supposed to have a better battery? typing now with only 6% left where my iPhone 4 would have a about 40% under the same conditions.... very strange and not good in my humble opinion.

I tried turning Siri on and off, tried turning time zone on and off for location services - neither helped.  I let the battery run to 0% last night and let it charge all night in an attempt to condition it, we'll see how it goes today.

I have AT&T, a guy in my office with Verizon has the exact same problem.  I'd rather not have to do a full restore as I would have a ton of work in setting up pages/favorites, etc.Green Apple.gif

No jurisdiction prohibit passive blocking or managing (blocking outgoing for instance) - they're always concerned about the use of the radio spectrum and side effects. It's possible to build an entire residential complex where cell phones will be rendered entirely useless using proper materials - it's just the buyer must be made aware of that. I can envision getting some funding from landline operators.

There is great opportunity for a niche market there. It's never about imposing this on the smartphone users - they can go elsewhere. It's about new places, and tapping into the immense pool of people around the world who actually want some peace. It's all in the making. It will happen.

Alright, so after using my new replacement iPhone for a couple of days, this is the best I came up with, and I'm VERY impressed with these results.  I'm a HEAVY user, meaning I'm on FB, twitter, Instagram and texting and calling ALL DAY.  I'm very impressed with these results.  Please tell me what you think.

Location -- ON when needed, OFF when not needed,

WIfi -- Always On (Even when not around Wifi)

    Cellular Data -- Always On

    iCloud -- Off

    Mail -- Hourly

    Ping -- Off

I am actually getting amazin results with the 5.1 beta 3. As of now it has 85% battery with 22u41 min standby and 1u14 usage. I called for 20 min with viber.

    This is what I did

    1. Installed 5.1 beta 3

    2. put back the backup

    3. reset phone till I could set up as new phone

    - turn off not needed location services

    - turned off raise to speak of siri

    - turned off 3G

    - turned off BT

    - wifi on

    - cellular data on

    - icloud on

    - 3 email accounts

    - fetch email every hour

    - icloud is on push

    - auto brightness and set on 25%

    4. Drained the battery till it shut offs tiself

    5. Charged to 100% ovenright.

Now it gives me excellent battery life. Before I could manage 1 day max.

You seem to have a real issue there.  Go to Apple Store if available, and see if they can figure out why your drain is so high.

My device id is registered as a developer yes.

But just to let you know that don't give the hopes up!

Also I have turned wireless syncing off.

What I also suggest you to do to find the culprit is to add one email account/icloud at a time. To see who the culprit is. When installing ios 5.1 beta 3. I charged it and unplugged it and locked the phone and looked at it 2 hours later. And saw that icloud says my password was wrong. He probably asked that from the very beginning. But what I saw was that the usage time was the same as standby time eventhough I locked the phone. After I inserted the right password it has the right amount of usage. No phantom usage. So I don t know if it helps!
