Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    then disable them

    your daft

siri and icloud are both hungry

icloud more so as there servers challange the phone at any change

    disable it

    then try again with usage

stop moaning use icloud as a backup as intended

and dont be so daft as too leave it running all the time using your rf and cell time etc

    over 3g its hungry

any 3g is far worse than wifi

if you use icloud use wifi first

    then youll not use

    1} your data allowance

2} your battery for 3g stuff thats far worse than wifi

3} you need to 'backup' to the cloud   not hammer it solid

enable and disable is there for a reason

look over my posts in this massive thread and youll see

i can post a pic of my phone settings again

i am on day 4 of usualy 5-6  and 3-4 hrs usage mostly calls chat and mail messages

    and little data

only google earth {very nice!!}  and some of the free apps like electronics calc a very nice free app

I am not daft, I am just running this with all services on since that is how I had my configuration before I looked into the battery problem. I want to control my findings. I am not complaining either. I simply stated what my problem was, and the solution I discovered. A complaint is when you state a problem and do not attempt a solution, or expect others to solve it for you.

Anyway, thank you for the tips. After a couple of days data collection in my current configuration, I will roll over to a more practical application of services as you have explained. Again, the reason I do it like this is so that I can have a controlled experiment by changing one factor at a time. This allows me to pinpoint the problem as well as the solution, and it gives users an idea of what to expect with their configuration if they do have these services enabled all the time(provided they apply my solution, and that is their problem).

Okay guys i need help! There are so many pages that i don't know where to start. Whilst my phone is charging i know i have to turn a lot of things off to increase the battery life.

    1. -  Turn Wifi Off

    2. - Turn bluetooth off

    3. -  Turn off location services

    4. - Turn push data off

    5. - Turn mobile netowrk off unless i am browsing the net

    6. - Limit the brightness to half way

Is threre anything else you suggest i should turn off or lower?

Lol the phone updates the time and that drains the battery just turn it off it will still tell the time and the ping is in the restrictions put a 4 digit code in ur choice then turn ping off that drains battery aswel, plus go into system services and turn off locatiob based iads and setting time zone all this helps you get more out of your battery

Basically makes your battery last a lot longer then it would if they was switched on....hopefully apple will bring out an update out soon to fix the battery bug but wouldn't hold your breath mate if you get a full day out of a full charge just smile and put up with it

    Battery

iPhone has an internal rechargeable battery.

    Charging the battery

The battery icon in the upper-right corner shows the battery level or charging status. You can also display the percentage of the battery charge. Go to Settings > General > Usage and turn on the setting under Battery Usage.

    Charging Charged

Charge the battery: Connect iPhone to a power outlet using the included Dock Connector to USB Cable and USB power adapter.

WARNING: For important safety information about charging iPhone, see the Important Product Information Guide at www.apple.com/support/manuals/iphone.

Note: Connecting iPhone to a power outlet can start an iCloud backup or wireless iTunes syncing. See “Backing up iPhone” on page 157 and “Syncing with iTunes” on page 18.

Charge the battery and sync iPhone: Connect iPhone to your computer using the included Dock Connector to USB Cable. Or connect iPhone to your computer using the included cable and the Dock, available separately.

Unless your keyboard has a high-powered USB 2.0 port, you must connect iPhone to a USB 2.0 port on your computer.

Important: The iPhone battery may drain instead of charge if iPhone is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode.

If you charge the battery while syncing or using iPhone, it may take longer to charge.

Important: If iPhone is very low on power an image indicating that iPhone needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it. If iPhone is extremely low on power, the display may be blank for up to two minutes until it displays an image.

    Maximizing battery life

iPhone uses lithium-ion batteries. To learn more about how to maximize the battery life of iPhone, go to www.apple.com/batteries.

    Replacing the battery

Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. The iPhone battery isn’t user replaceable; it can be replaced only by an authorized service provider. For more information, go to www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html.

I have had battery problems on my 4S since buying it last year. Nothing drastic like some people seem to have experienced, yet I could just about get through the day with moderate usage. I've tried various things and finally it seems to be OK. All I did was backup my phone to my computer and did a complete restore. Things looked good after I had done it and I was trying to run it down so I could calibrate the battery. However the battery was draining at a much slower rate so I gave up before I went to bed. In the end I went to work the next day and got through my day with just 15% of my battery lost! Though I must stress this was my iPhone down to its barebones. Just a couple of apps installed and with little use through the day.

Last night did a complete recharge and all looks good. Usually I lose 5% battery just going to work but it was still at 100%. And before I would have standby/usage stats that were very similar in terms of numbers. Now I have fifteen minutes of usuage with over two hours standby.

With 600 odd pages of replies I'm sure someone has done this method before, but I thought I'd mention it. Happy Friday!

Another LIAR!   Your snapshot shows that the phone has been plugged in since the last full charge.   You are lying about your results.
