Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Hey guys, i also feel like my battery doesn't work properly. I had a 3G before the iphone 4S so i don't know if this stat is good or not.

    These are my settings:

Location ON ( all services OFF )

Notifications ON (phone, messages, facebook, mails etc)

Mail ON ( Hotmail with push and ICloude manual)

The usage today was mainly texting ( around 500 texts), little of web, mails, and using many apps.

This is my usage right now:

    Usage         5 Hours, 12 Minutes

    StandBy     13 Hours, 50 Minutes

My battery right now is at 17%.

Do u think it is bad?

    Thanks Guys

Press the power and home buttons at the same time and it will snap a picture of the screen shot. It will be in your camera roll

Took a photo with Camera+, uploaded it to Facebook, this apparently requires 4% of battery power!!!

At that rate it would mean 25 photos and 25 uploads = full battery drain!

I know there have been similar battery issues with iOS updates, but I don't think there has been a battery problem quite this bad.

Ok. I have. Even contacted by the people at apple as well. I am planning on installing the software to help them out tomorrow.

Here is what I have to say in the meantime.

I would say I am a apple addict. I have three macs, apple tv, a iPad and every model of iPhone that has come out.  I mean every one.  This in addition to a million accessories.

If there is one thing I am sure of it is this.  Apple may have issues with some of the products that it releases, but they ALWAYS take care of the problem.  How many other companies will constantly strive to improve their products by providing free software updates?  I Assume in some ways as a early adopter that I will have to deal with some of these issues.  Usually they resolve these issues within the first couple of weeks.

I know people are frustrated, but please try to relax. I assure you as a longtime apple product user, they always stand behind their products and there WILL be a fix.  This has been the case since my first apple II e about 30 years ago.

It is frustrating.  Trust me I have had more issues than most of you,  battery issues, email issues and my calls do not go through at first most of the time.  This will get resolved. I would stake my life on it.

Apple does NOT listen!  Apple depends upon loyal customer who are blind and will follow regardless.  I've been a long time loyal customer for decades, but I'm not blindly loyal and i'm getting tired of Apple not listening.  It is already disappointing that Apple did not meet expectations on this last release, but now the battery life *****.  I've had it with Apple, this iPhone 4S has been a major disappointment and now battery issues!

Blakejnd - What software are you installing tomorrow to help Apple?

Blakejnd - What did you mean by "even contacted by the people at Apple as well"? Are Apple calling you?

    Matty,

Sorry I had a typo. They contacted me and asked if I would be willing to help with this issue by installing some software that will monitor my usage over 24 hrs. I agreed thinking it would help solve this issue for everyone.

Lars I have to respectfully disagree. They are listening and trying to fix this issue. I know this for a fact. I have spent over 6 hours on the phone with various apple people discussing this issue so I promise they are licensing and care. By the way this is all after normal working hours. I do not take any days off from work so this is all in what little spare time I have. Trust me I have been frustrated but I kne they are listening and do care.

Just to jump in on what Blake said.  Apple has contacted some people about the battery issue and had them download some little app to keep a log of the battery usage.  After 24 hours the Apple care person calls you back and you go through a few steps and email them the diagnostics and delete the app afterwards.  It's just info gathering.

I'm not really sure how the chose people. I got a call too and the first guy I talked to said it was from this forum.  That was before there were almost a 1000 replies though. Lol.

Not sure if it was from here or my many phone calls.  They obviously cannot contact everyone and are just picking a sampling of people.

Cool, well thats good to hear.

I just want to know if I'm experiencing the same issue as everybody else or I truly have a problem with my battery, as I mentioned in an earlier post when I got my iPhone 4s out of the box it was dead.

I thought I might have got a DOA.

The battery was so flat that I had to charge for about 15 minutes or so before I could even switch it on!

So my thought was maybe I have a legit problem with hardware.

    What you guys reckon?
