Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    Hope the battery gets better....As of now, I may be on the better side compared to many others but my phone is still lightyears behind what Apple specified....I just wish there is a fix cos Apple has been quiet for a long time now....

    My interpretation of their silence on the battery issue is that they can't/won't fix it. Indeed, reports of users testing every beta of the next update don't include any mention of improving the battery life.

    I think the situation is that the phone will never get anywhere near Apple's published specs. And they don't care.

    If you're happy with the battery life, cool.

    Perhaps it doesn't meet the advertised specs, but then what product do you know that DOES?

    I am happy with my battery life.  Got 16 hours with 2 hours usage with the battery at 72% when I plugged it in to charge tonight.

    That is fine with me, and about what I got with the iPhone 4, and the 4S does more, faster.

    I remember when you could buy maple syrup that took half a minute to pour some out of the bottle.  I guess if you want that now you have to buy property with maple trees, and make your own syrup.  Sigh.

    [...]

    lollll. That was simply overboiled - it shouldn't be like liquid honey. A good syrup is not "that" thick, it's closer to maple water, and has to be light in color - dark is always of a lesser quality. What you describe is more akin to what you may know as "sugar on snow", some kind of toffee if you want. If that's what you want, you may find it under that category. It glues your teeth together in no time, so make sure to have a warm beverage nearby lollll.

    Time was, you could turn ANY brand of syrup bottle over, and watch the bubble slowly (20 seconds) drift up to the top.  Now, there is no delay, and the 'syrup' is more like colored water.

    1 day and 6 hours with very light usage (10 minutes of calls, 3 text messages, 5minutes surfing the web). That was it!

    try to do the followings steps, those helps me to save the battery. Try it.

    1. Go to Settiings / General / Siri / turn off Raise to speak and then reboot.

    (A sensor upper the earphone is continuing on even if you turn it off, YOU MUST REBOOT YOUR IPHONE AFTER THAT.)

    I think that it is the major problem about battery drain.

    2. Go to Settings / Location Services / System Services / Turn off Setting Time Zone

    3. Go to Settings / Notifications / Turn off Calendar, weather, stock or move them to Not in Notification Center

    (calendar may be not need but I don't use this function, so I turn it off.) (Weather and stock always runs GPS or  internet to update the states.)

    4. Click weather and turn off local weather. Set your area in the weather list. If using local weather, it always run the GPS.

    Sorry, already done that

    Here's the list of changes that i made when i got the results i posted (it's been always like this and the battery lasts the same or less, depending on the use i make of the phone...never more than 1day and 6/7 hours):

    - Auto-Screen brightness Off, with dimmed screen (20% maybe);

    - Location Services/system services ALL off;

    - Notifications set to Manual, only having "phone and text messages" on notifications centre;

    - Wi-fi off (only turned it On for 5 minutes);

    - Cellular Data off;

    - Network Auto-detection set to off;

    - iCloud off;

    - Erased all e-mail acounts and set Push to off/Fetch set to Manual;

    - Diagnosis set to "Don't Send";

    - Bluetooth off;

    - Restrictions off (already tried to turn them on and disable Ping, iTunes and Facetime - saw no change);

    - No SIM lockout;

    - Auto lockout set to 1 minute;

    - Closed ALL pages openned in Safari before exit;

    - All apps mannualy closed in multi-task bar;

    - Only have "Phone" and "Text Messages" in Notification Center;

    - Siri/"Speak to raise" off (after turning it off, turned the phone off and on because there was a known bug that kept the sensor working even after ticking it to OFF - checked with a camera - it's off);

    - Vibration on only in Silent Mode...

    - Local Weather turned OFF with no Cities in the list;

    - I've done several restores (some in DFU Mode, some not in DFU, you name it...) and already let the phone drain the battery to 0% 4 ot 5 times (which is more than i wanted!!) and nothing, REALLY NOTHING, seems to fix it!!

    All I want is for Apple to at least let us know what they're up to with trying to fix this. The 5.0.1 update failed, so is that it? It's ridiculous to lose over half your battery percentage just turning on the screen for half a second a few times throughout the day.

    Now my battery life is draining with no activity at all. Twenty minutes ago it was at 86%. I leave it on the couch for twenty minutes, turn it on and see it has 66% left. Awesome.

    Cannot say anything about apple... It's like they are ghost and they come only when there is something to address or release... Well until then I guess we have to make do with the phone... And I am going for a replacement today... Hopefully I fall on the majority this time...

    I bought mine about 10 days ago and stupidly assumed this problem had been solved. I restored everything I had on my iPhone 4, didn't change any settings or how I use the phone. I get about half the battery life that I got with the iPhone 4.

    It's regularly needing to be fully charged twice a day, plus charging in my car.

    Apple is not know as a great company for airing their dirty laundry in public, but do act to fix problems, as quietly as possible.  I take their rather long development cycle for IOS5.1 as a good sign that they are investigating the problems throughly, and working toward as good a fix is as possible.  Right now, my phone does acceptably.  Sure, I would love to be able to go a week without charging, but is isn't essential.  Batteries have a finite storage capacity, and modern smartphones are hungry for power to handle all the tasks we expect of them.  If the iPhone 5 is to be a 4G phone, it will need a larger battery, or a new battery technology, or both.

    I have had two new iPhone 4s's in the space of 4 weeks, they won't charge above 97%, have to take charger out and plug it back in for it to go to 100%, or it charges to 100 and as soon as you plug charger out, without even using the phone, it drops to 97!!! What is going in? Apple said it could be an app causing the problem being as its happened to both phones now, or extremely bad luck!!!!
