Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

Because him and dog bite whoever happen to be idealist and be to thickheaded to plug the freaking phone in daily or make APPLE SUGGESTED optimizations clearly stated on their pages. And apparently those 2 equate to 80% of 50 million phones that are faulty. You really should know better by now to even respond to either of them. And you are 100% correct MOST folks never had a problem and a LOT have resolved theirs in various ways but mostly fresh restores and not installing older backups seems to  be yielding the best results.

You responded to a user who was quite negative about his 4S just a few pages back, and has found a solution that works for him.  Now you are calling HIM a liar too. 

Enough is enough already! I had to go to the Apple store today to have them look at my 4 day old 4S. The issues are:

1) Poor battery life - even on a brand new set-up, losing about 5% battery charge every hour during stand-by. For example, I can charge the phone for a few hours just before going to bed, and within 7 hours when I wake up I'll be down to like 75%-80%. No usage at all, iCloud disabled, and no apps running in the background.

2) Wifi Hotspot doesn't work - other computers (my laptop, for example) and even a friend's brand new iPod Touch can't connect to my device. Even though personal hotspot is turned on, they can't see the SSID or the device connects for a second before dropping off the connection. Carrier allows wifi tethering as I have a 6 gigs data-plan. They reset the network settings on their end but said I have to see Apple as it's clearly a problem with the phone and not the service.

After replacing the phone today, it looks like the same problems are very much present.

I have let the battery run right down now and its gone off so charing on my PC now.  When i spoke to Apple spupport they said because its happened the same on both new phones, they think its either extremely bad luck! or that there is an app on my phone with a virus etc causing the problem.  I have taken nearly all my app's off, i only have facebook, twitter, sky+, starbucks and few games for myd daughter now and it still has the battery issue.  I have turned Siri off now as well as i dont use it and thought i woudl try that as the battery issue only started after about 4 days of having the phone and i think my other half turned on siri for me after the first couple of days. 

I will see what happens with this charge, it will sometimes say 100%, and then as soon as i plug it out, it drops to 97 or wont charge up to 100.  I dont have push notifications on for email etc.  I am a bit annoyed as i dont see why you should have to turn certain things off to get a better service from the battery, isn't that the whole point of an iphone!

Amazing Amazing Amazing!!! The 4s battery has been fixed. There is no problem with the battery onwards. You can enable everything as of you took out of the box in the initial phase you bought iphone 4s.

What you do is just Switch off your iphone 4s and than throw it to dustbin **** and never use it again. Search for another brand you will be happy, atleast you will get rid of the battery issues. There will be no more headache regarding this ******* ******* apple's issues. **** you Apple and your brand. I will throw my mac too in near future until i manage bucks for another brand and i will suggest all of my frens not to buy any product of this ******* apple's brand. Now i am happy with my android there is no more headache. **** your specification, **** your brands. I gave you the money to throw your product in dustbin i will never expect for the refund. You just think that i gave you money as a charity. Why did you release 4s if it don't have any ability??? you want to make huge amount of money by making people in illusion all over the world?? If so than put one big bowl in front of your headoffice at california so people could drop some amount of money for you.

Galaxy is beating this ******* iphone. Everyone is laughing on your ******* product.

This forum is only the playing **** of apple. You never wait for the fixes in near future. And do not cry in this forum coz they are laughing at your tears. So better not to cry instead of buying another product.

This is what it looks like after bein off charge all night i still have everything switched on.... i will see how much it loses through the day now..... restoring back to 5.0.1(9A405) seems ok at the moment

How I solved my battery solution: restore as a new phone from iTunes then Erase All Content & Settings from the iPhone (Settings > General > Reset). I don't know if the erase actually fixed my problem but I believe it did. I still didn't install any apps because I'm too scared of putting my phone in my Mac and the battery drainage returns after the sync and because my credit card doesn't work. I also don't have all my contacts and none of my music and videos. I fear the battery drainage is going to come back! I am now on 2 days, 4 hours standby and 2 hours, 35 minutes usage with 31% battery. I received and sent about 5 texts and had a total call time of 15 minutes (estimated). Maybe 25-30 minutes of 3G and 20 minutes on WiFi with Safari. Looking very good.

Try restoring the iPhone as a new phone [and erase all content and settings (I don't know if this actually works but as long as you restore your iPhone, its okay to try this). I suggest you install all your contacts, music, and videos before you take your iPhone from your laptop. Don't put any apps directly from iTunes but use the app store from your iPhone to get the latest version and avoid issues. I'm not sure if the problem will reappear after backing up on the laptop.

Hope this helps and please report back if you do what I mentioned above.

Sorry to let you down but you didn't solve the battery life issue of iPhone 4s. Your fix does not work! It is just that you use your iPhone 4s as super expensive iPod and very few capabilities of a dumb phone.

Restoring, reseting, turn settings off, etc. does not fix the batter life issue!

The only way to fix the battery life issue of iPhone 4s is to turn off the phone completely or turn on the Airplane mode!

The vast majority of iPhone 4s are affected by the battery life issue and/or static noise issue which cannot be fixed by iOS updates! There has been plenty of iOS 5.X.X betas and realeases which have not fixed the battery life issue and/or the static noise issue! How many months/years does one still need to see that iOS cannot fix the issues of iPhone 4s?  Obviously the hope that everything can be fixed with a software update is the last to die!

I would normally come back home after school (2:30PM) and have 30-40% battery remaining when I charge it before I sleep. Now I have 30% battery after 2 days, 5 hours standby!

You use your iPhone 4s as an iPod + "dumb phone"! There is no Cellular Data and Wifi sign visible in your screenshot! I assume that next step for you would be to use the iPhone 4s in airplane mode!

I guess that probably you are also on 2G network.

I'm not using my phone as an iPod as there are so many capabalities on the iPhone. I'm a light user. I check Facebook and Twitter several times a day. I chat on Whats App also several times a day but I'm not a constant user. Please do not call my phone dumb because it is the best phone I've had so far.

I keep off cellular data and wifi because it drains the battery even when not in use and I'm not constantly on my iPhone, I have a Macbook Pro that I use to open safari and social network.
