Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

    I added all my contacts and music yesterday and when I woke up in the morning, I was surprised. After about 6 hours of standby, I lost 11% battery and there were no apps. As soon as I got back home, I did a restore as a new phone and added all my contacts from the Address Book (Mac), about 10 apps (which I didn't open at all), and music. When I took it out the charge at 100%, I had phantom usage which had usage time as nearly as half as standby with no use at all and no apps in the background. After less than 4 hours of no use at all, I had 94%. and I lost about 2% every hour. I decided to erase all contents and settings from the iPhone and I connected to the laptop to add music only. I now don't have any phantom usage. It looks like the contacts are f****ng up my phone.

    Current results:

    Usage: 2 Minutes

    Standby: 58 Minutes

    Battery: 100%

    Music: 675 songs (don't think its just 2 songs... you know who you are.)

    Now it is calculating it correctly and I'm happy. Still didn't fix my credit card but as soon as I do, I will be installing the apps that I need only directly from my phone.

    If you have phantom usage, try backing up all your data on the iPhone and erase all data and settings. Then install your music (I don't know about the apps) but leave your contacts (you can sync contacts whenever you want as long as you backup). Record any observations and post on this thread.

    Please do not complain about my PREDICTION being wrong as it is just a prediction and not a real fix.

    Thanks mate! I actually know about the whole litigation "portfolio" between the 2 divas of the smartphone industry. As the proceedings go forward we'll be able to have some intereting reading to help one fall asleep when going to bed!

    @roddur

    I suggest that you return your iPhone 4s or ask for a refund!

    I don't see how this will help me but thanks for linking me. I have one thing: is this happening because I synced it from the BlackBerry to the Address Book and then to my iPhone? Is there a corrupt file lying underneath a contact?

    My 4S is horrible as well. It has the same brightness and other settings as my 3GS had (which was 3 years old), and I'm getting less battery life out of the brand new phone.

    Well, I had no clue if you're using built-in contacts or using contacts from external software or platform or what have you, which is why I gave this general link. In my - unrelated to iPhone - experience, passing contacts to and from different platforms is a mess. I have heard of non standard fields in a contact disrupting sync and such but couldn't tell you more really. I don't know how much contacts you have but personally I would print them all out and recreate them manually on the target platform.

    For now, enjoy this beautiful photo of Burj Khalifa that I took with the iPhone 4S.
