Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

No one told you to analyse other people's comments.

What this has to do with iPhone 4s? So what should I analyze if not the comments, posts, and statements on this forum? Should I analyze your personality? Should I analyze your IQ?

It is not necessary at all.

    Yes, it is necessary.

There's no need to state the way

Yes, it is a need! I have written that you are using the iPhone 4s as a dumb phone and also I wrote that it is nothing bad in using as an dumb phone!

I use my phone because I can use it however I want to, whenever I want to.

Yes, you can I am not stopping you and I didn't stop you. I didn't even told you to switch anything off!

I suggest you keep your words to yourself

I do not take your suggestion! If you do not like my posts then please do not read them! It's that simple!

because you're providing no help to anyone on this thread

Yes, I do. I suggested to many people with iPhone 4s issues to get a replacement or get a refund!

    swear at people

I did not. Please, show a post where I did that!

analyse their comments as if you're analysing a quote from a book.

And? I think that is good! If you do not like it do not read my posts!

I solved some of my battery issues but I still have it.

It looks from your posts that you solved your battery life issue of your iPhone 4s by using the iPhone 4s less and using less features of iPhone 4s which are initially set on by Apple. Don't get me wrong! That is ok as long as it's fine by you!

Please stop analysing and evaluating comments.

Of course I am analyzing and evluating comments! That is the only thing one can analyze here on the forum! I cannot analyze the evaluate the people who make those comments!

Would you like me instead of judging the comments to start judging the people who write those comments like some people do here? Would you like that I post/reply something like "you are stupid. You do not know anything. You need first a IQ-test/license to own/use an iPhone 4s." instead "your statement is wrong"?

Also before contacting Apple about the battery life issue please call first to you carrier provider and ask if there are some issues regarding cell network and iPhone 4s (most of the time there are none) because Apple will blame the carrier provider!

You've obviously never contacted Orange UK with a problem then - for any issue at all, their first line response (if you can get through) is always to say there's a network issue in your area.

Maybe they know the quality of their network.....

    Aliar,

I think the issue here is that you are using your phone in a way that very few of us do, or want to.   The vast majority of us bough the iPhone to take advantage of the many features and options it offers.   You may be thrilled with the results you are getting, but they are meaningless to the rest of us.

Don't take it personally, just take it for the facts........

I actually use my iPhone as a phone. Its not always on standby. One does not have to use a phone for 10 hours. I use it for texting, calling, emailing, and checking Twitter. I have an iPod Touch 4thG and its not that good. I like my iPhone regardless the issues it has and I'm a light user. Its like having 3 in one: music, phone, and camera. As long as I have the money, I can buy whatever I want to and you're not supposed to criticise other people. Keep your words to yourself.

I think not - I have many words and I intend on expressing them fully, and I can criticize whomever and whatever I want and I really don't need your permission. Actually I couldn't care less how you use your phone, even though it seems to me you're one step away from framing it and putting it on the wall to admire it. Who cares it's your phone so it's all good. I mean sure with money one can build a ski resort in the desert, but that doesn't make it the Alps. I have to acknowledge though the Shuffle doesn't include a camera - but unfortunately the iPhone 4S doesn't include Photoshop, which would help as you seem inclined to spend more time watermarking your pics than actually taking them - but that's all right too. Usually professionals resort to digital watermarks and simply upload lower resolution pictures when they want to protect their content - but to each his own.

So as you see, it's no big deal. The reason why I commented your delusional post about your battery life is simply because you were trying to convince a newbie seeking support and understanding, that maintaining 100% battery on 10 hours standby is the type of magic this device delivers (Icarus surely flew a couple of seconds high in the air before rapidly falling down to the ground - it was a short lived miracle) - especially that you knew full well that when you added your contacts and apps you had an immediate drain etc - that you'd show off to the rest of us is quite irrelevant, but when someone seeks support, it's time for the fairy tales and enthusiam to subside - and ultimately that was my point!

    Hey Scarface,

I can not really understand what problems you have, i bought my iPhone 4S on 3 of december and installed immediately the iOS 5.0.1 version, since then I am very happy with it and battery lasts between 1-2 days depending on usage.

    For me this is fine.

    Regards Gerald

    Hi there,

Quick update, both mine and partners phones were charged to 100%. We both had wifi switched on and also location services to make a fair comparison, both were taken off charge at 9pm last night. Both attached to wifi at the house last night.

Now we both work at the same place, so we travelled to work together and both connected to the free wifi at work.

We have both got home, i have made one call to her to see if she was ready for lunch. She has been using email and facebook. Just checked the battery and mine has 25% and the partners has 49%.

I am convinced that something is wrong with my phone. I have two apps which she has plus she has more.

"I believe now the smartphone industry has reached a point where people want the best of both worlds - and that includes calling the Lark Creak Steak House using voice assist - and the only way to achieve that is to have both worlds, which is why Apple and Google should team up in a limited venture like Sony and Ericsson did, and offer a special edition iOS/Android device, which allows you to switch your OS in real time - so that their multicore device can be put to some real use - enter the iPhoid4All_SExus !!"

    As Jameson! pointed out, email.

Under Exchange, we've witnessed here different results for 2 users under the same Exchange corporate server - so even a different inbox/contacts can have an impact. One last thing... at work, which of you sits closer to the window lolll yep, that too.

    Good luck!

    Steve Wozniak, Apple's Co-Founder Says:

Another gripe involves battery life. “With the iPhone, something happened with the new OS or the new phone, and it just started running through the battery so fast,” he says. “I’ve had a lot of issues with things I have to turn off just to save the battery life.”

So there is in fact a battery life with the iPhone 4S. Its not the applications you install or any other thing and it's most probably a hardware problem.
