Q: iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

Simply atrocious, so sick of the pathetic battery life.

You got through a whole day, with pretty heavy usage, and you still have 22% remaining.  Just what are your expecations?

It still falls short compared to my old iphone 4. Under similar circumstances of use, my old phone could go a day with between 13 to 15 hours of usage.

Call me cynical but please understand my disapointment as a consumer to see inferior battery life from a new product compared to a previous generation.

    News flash!

It's NOT an iPhone 4.  It LOOKS like an iPhone 4, but is isn't.  Inside, it's all new. It has twice the processor power, and 7 times the graphics speed, and a new 3G chipset, and up to 4 times the memory, and Siri.  It has a battery that is only minimally larger than the iPhone 4.  If you want an iPhone 4, I suggest you advertise for a trade.  I am sure you can find someone who would appreciate the difference.

I found a solution for my Iphone 4S. I disabled Siri and turned off the phone. After i turned on the phone and Siri. Since i haven't phantom usage.

Not very useful that way, is it?  But the battery will no doubt last weeks!

If I dont need Siri, location services bluetooth etc - I would rather buy a $30/= phone. Why buy an iPhone if you cant use the features?

btw, the time shown since the last full charge is as it says. If you use the phone, then partially charge it back up again, I believe it does not count that charge.

I use Siri, and location services, but rarely use Bluetooth, so I keep it off unless I am traveling.  If you don't need services all the time, don't turn them on.  Basic conservation of resources.  You turn your lights off when you go to bed, right?

turn off bluetooth, turn brightness down, turn your EQ off in music, turn vibrate off, turn 3g off ,turn location off, turn wi-fi off.

keep a look out for software updates

also alot of people do not do the simple thing when it comes to battery charging

when the battery dies out completely leave it ,do not charge straight away, leave if for a good few hours,(this of course is ok if you have a spare handset),you can leave it dead for  a few days .

then when your ready, charge it up.

the more people keep charging the fone up straight away when the battery goes flat, the more you shorten the battery life down, let the battery "chill out"

don't over work it by charging as soon as it dies out.

the more you do this simple thing the more you will get out of your battery

    I know it's a 4S duh!

Specs means squat if the iPhone barely makes it through a day.

Also this is a forum, I'm allowed to vent, what I do with my phone is not your business mate. If you have a problem with my venting, than why don't you tell that to the other thousand users in this thread.

    Hi everyone,

just like all of you I had problems with battery life on my 4s. Did a restore and set up as new phone, reset all settings ++++

Nothing seemed to help. It lasted barely a day on standby if I didn`t touch it at all.

There was also a problem with the sim programs, they didn`t work at all plus sim code would not work after battery had run out. Had to reboot the phone to make it work.

Took it back to apple they concluded there was something wrong with the hardware (wouldn`t tell me what) but I suspect it had something to do with the simcard reader. My carrier told me some 4s`s have this problem.

To make a long story short, the replacement works much better, now I can easily go two days with for me normal usage and it would probably last more than 3 days with no use. Still not the "up to 200 hours" which Apple promises, but I have never had an iphone lasting that long.

Also want to mention I do not turn off Siri, have set up 3 email accounts, one set to push, the other 2 to fetch, location services are on for camera, maps, siri etc. and notifications are on.

Turning off these features would defeat the purpose of a smartphone and shouln`t be a solution to battery problems (as I see it).

So, don`t waste time (and money) get a new phone!!!!
