Slideshow doesn't export, CouldNotCreateTmpDir error received

My iPhoto 2011 is working perfectly and I've built a large slideshow for a wedding. However, when I try to export my slideshow using any of the settings, including a custom export I receive the following error and the exporting process is instantly halted (before it starts).

I've tried "repairing disk permissions" in Disk Utility which had no effect and I've mainly gone to the /tmp directory in Terminal and tried adding +w to random folders without sucess.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Do you have a folder called 'iPhoto Slideshows' in your Pictures Folder?

Yes I do, it's the default place where it asks where I'd like to export my slideshow.

If I delete that folder, and then press Export again, it recreates it.

That being said, it doesn't matter where I select to save my slideshow, "iPhoto Slideshows" or "Desktop" or anything, I stil receive the same error.

The problem isn't exclusive to iPhoto by any means, I couldn't save any Photoshop files and I couldn't export any Quicktime movies in Quicktime Player. Found the solution using some Google-Fu and credit goes to Jeff Clark for pointing out the exact problem here (http://nothoo.com/blog/2011/09/15/os-x-oddness-permissions-on/).

When you decide to save in these applications, temporary files are stored in the "$TMPDIR/TemporaryItems" directory, but if you don't have the correct permissions within this folder, nothing works! So you simply need to open up Terminal and make sure you can write to the $TMPDIR folder:

sudo chmod g+w $TMPDIR/TemporaryItems

Bam, no restart needed. Everything works, including iPhoto Slideshows! Still not sure what caused it though...

How do you open Terminal? I just let the slideshow export to the Pictures/iPhoto Slideshows library. I figure I can move the .mp4 file to where I want it after the export. By the way, I upgraded to Yosemite and didn't like the new Photo. So I got iPhoto back and am still using it.

How do you open Terminal?

The Terminal.app is in the subfolder "utilities" of "Applications". Just click it.

Or Type "Terminal" into the Spotlight search field to find it.
