Does Pages have a maximum object size

I'm having a similar problem. I'm trying to make a poster thats 40" x 56". Pages is my preferred program but I cant seem to make shapes larger than 39.9" in any one dimension. It does not seem intermittent for me, I had thought this was just a limitation of Pages. Can anyone verify the maximum object size, or is this a bug?

Using Pages 4.1 and OSX 10.6.8, I just made a custom page size for 40" x 56" and made a rectangle.

The metrics inspector did not appear to be able to accept entries over one meter (39.36" was the most it would take). Dragging the handles, however, appearred to allow arbitrarily large sizes (at least, much larger than the page size.

I tested it and I could get larger pages, but I have swedish metric system on the computer. I had to use metric numbers and in Pages which is set to English it showed up in inches.

Thanks for the replies. I too can make my paper size as big as I need, 40" x 56" currently. My issue is with resizing objects (ie. shapes) from the inspector box.

Example: I want to make a colored stripe across the top of the page as a title background, and make it exactly 4" x 55.5" so that the margins are .25".

I have figured out a few work arounds such as working in half size dimensions, or making "spacer" objects to fit the margins. These solutions have limitations of their own.

Seems bizarre to me that you can't resize beyond 39.36" in the inspector.

It's still a little bit of a work around, but if you only want to make one of the dimensions over 40 inches, you can do it with the inspector.

For your 4" x 55.5" banner, start by making 2" x 27.75" banner. Check "Constrain proportions" and then change 2" to 4" and the 27.75" will change to 55.5" for you.
