Is there any way to remove one or two people from a Group MMS thread on the iPhone? (iOS 5, iPhone 4S).
Or at least a way for the recipient to be able to remove him/herself from the list so he/she wont be annoyed by all the messages being sent through the group?

no you cant do that. You just have to start over without that person.
I still cannot belive Apple missed this feature to add or remove recipient under reply! The workaround which I am using now is to forward the msg and add back the ppl I want to reply to.
a person can remove themselves by going into settings > messages > and slide group messaging off.
Thank you Nikkijo! this worked. I was included in a group of me and just a friend trying out new emojis. and every time i responded i'd send a text to myself. once i turned off group, her texts went to just our conversation.
really weird that the settings won't allow you to edit who you want to respond to. seems kind of like an error.
