iPhone 4S camera lens rattle

Yup I got it. My iPhone 4 didn't do it.

My 4S rattles just as you described. My had a rattle too but not as loud as my 4S. When on vibrate, it can be heard too.

Yup, same with mine... =/ Any way to fix it?

Yep does on mine as well - purchased a 64GB in the UK - very much louder and more noticeable than on the 4. I've had my 4 since its release and never noticed the sound until I did a comparison between the 4 and 4S!

You going to try for a replacement?

This is my first post but I've also noticed this on iPhone 4s

However I've also been in the apple shop and every one of the demos does the same as well. The iPhone 4s in the phone shops do the same as well.

I'm also not sure if it is the camera. It seems to be something inside the phone at the top, poss the light sensor.

If you slightly pinch the top ofthe phone, the rattle stops. Or if u push on the back too it stops. So I'm not convinced its the camera it self.

The rattle like the buttons on the iPhone 4 has gone on the iPhone 4s but now we have a new one.

So it this where we now go back to appple to see what it is. ?

Ahh was wondering what that rattle was when i tapped around. Thought it was loose volume/mute buttons at first. Camera lens rattling around??... doesnt sound inspiring.

I too have a distinct "tambourine" rattle when tapping the phone near the camera lens area. So I understand that this is by design and does not constitute a defective product. Seems surprising that Apple would be comfortable selling a phone that rattles. Thinking about taking a short drive to the apple store to confirm, but sounds like it's pretty common. Thanks.

No it's def the camera lens now. I can hear it.

It is annoying tho I've paid £700 for a top of the range 64gb phone and it has annoying rattle. This is not good and I'm not impressed at all in have to say. This is shockingly poor from apples testing point of view.

This is something that apple should have resolved before releasing the new phone or now look at resolving. There must be something that they can domtomthe lens to rest in a certain spot so it doesn't rattle like it does

I love the iPhone to bits, but this is already getting on my nerves and swapping it at a shop for another one isn't going to resolve the issue.

Mine rattles when it vibrates so when I get a SMS or a call it rattles and its annoying.

Just returned from the apple store. Checked out 5 or so 4s phones and validated the same rattle. Confirmed the ip4 rattle as well. Consulted with the genius bar who confirmed rattle is "normal" and exists with all 4s devices including his own (although the genius tech indicated the noise was coming from the sleep wake button which it sounds like he may be mistaken). Will be able to sleep at night knowing that every iPhone tested had the nearly same rattle.

I was in my local appe store on Friday in uk and all the display ones did it. Some were louder than others

I can confirm it.

Noticed it immediately when I set down the phone on my table. I did also notice it in all the iphones on display that I check in the apple shop. I did not notice this at all with my iphone 4. The noise is much more pronounced on the 4s.

Its reasuring that I am not the only one with this. However, it is a bit irritating that such an good phone, an expensive phone, makes such a cheap/broken noise.

Further to this, I have to wonder... Is this rattling going to cause damage to the camera lenses/parts or whatever over time?

Surely continuous friction on these moving parts, even when not in use has to build up and have some effect...

Any opinions on this?

Whats going to happen to the lens when they are touching and rattling all the time.

Eventually im sure they would create a mark or a blury part on the camera.

Im sure that something can be done to tell the camera auto focus to rest in one place to prevent this from happening.

Apple Im hoping you are reading this and can do something about this?
