Right now I'm on iOS 5 but experiencing MASSIVE battery drain.  I need to set up as a new device, but how is this done with iCloud?

I have my contacts and calendar backed up to iCloud instead of iTunes.  When I restore my device again, and I select SET UP AS NEW DEVICE on the iPhone after it's restored, will it wipe out my iCloud backup?

No that is the whole point of iCloud.  You do not need a PC to start up the device.

    Good luck!

So in iTunes, I click RESTORE, it wipes everything out.  Then on the iPhone it will say SLIDE TO SET UP, and I click SET UP AS NEW IPHONE instead of restore from iCloud.

Now how do I get my contacts, calendars, bookmarks, etc back?  The apps and music I will sync manually via iTunes after

Why didn't you choose 'Restore from iCloud backup' when you first setup your iPhone?  Anyway, if that's the case, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings then this time you choose 'Restore from iCloud backup'.  Cheers!

No one understands what this guy means.

I have the same question. How do you restore from iCloud after Initial hook up. I had cellular connection but not wifi. So I couldn't restore from iCloud. So is there a way after the fact of booting up the phone after doing a "reset all setting and erase all content?" I had to do this at work because Siri didn't work all day for me. I reset network settings 5-6 times. Nothing worked. So after 12 hours of no Siri I just decided to do a full reset.

Am I going to have to do it again at home where I have wifi to do a restore from

When I purchased my iPhone 4S today at Apple, the guy told me they are told to setup as new, and therefore he made me bypass the 'restore from iCloud backup'.  I discovered when I got home that all my SMS messages and app settings are gone.  Is there a way to get it all back?

Go to settings>general>Siri> and turn it on.
