ITunes "waiting for items to copy"

I have been trying to sync my iphone for the last 2 days now. It always says "waiting for items to copy" and never completes. All of my music cleared off and I cannot get anything to sync to the unit anymore. I have read every forum post I could find and tried it all. Reinstalling itunes, restore the device, turning off icloud, using a "netsh winsock reset" command prompt....etc. No results. 6+ hours of my weekend gone. Please reply if anybody has any new ideas or black magic that works to fix this.

I just spoke with Apple. I was told the system is overloaded with everyone updating their software and using iCloud. I turned off iCloud and chose to "back up to this computer", and it worked fine.

I think the delay is from the system overload. The Apple representative I spoke to said it might be like this for a while, so suggested I not use the iCloud.

Anyone else get the same response?

I'm not using iCloud and am having the same issue trying to sync with iTunes. I have a MobileMe account. Phone seems to work but sync never completes on Step #7. "Syncing Genius Data to My iPhone Waiting for items to copy".

I've tried shutting down iMac and restarting iTunes, shutting down iPhone and restarting. Restoring from Backup. Eliminating sync of some items such as movies, podcast, music. Nothing seems to work to get a complete successful sync.

Restoring was not a solution for my case

I had this message and a 13GB showing on the yellow "Other" on the capacity bar!

.

What worked for me, after looking around was:

  1. Backing up my iPhone's voice memos
  2. Deleting both, the ones in the iPhone and the iTunes Library
  3. I have also looked in my iPhone for the voice memo's/recording "You can use any app available to do that "for Mac or Win" (you should back up before in case you lose something important accidentally)
  4. I did sync after that and it was completed successfully.

This is also fixed a huge space that I had related to the "Other" in the capacity bar in iTunes.

I'm not sure how is that related to this message, but it did work!

I hope that helps.

ikhaled_, interesting comment, as I had a couple of strange occurrences when trying to back up my iPhone 4. The yellow bar took up much more space than it usually did. In fact, it showed up more than my music which was previously about 80% of my memory. I don't know what happened, but after stopping and re-starting the sync a couple of times, all of a sudden the yellow bar shrank back to its normal, smaller space.

Until you mentioned the yellow bar showing 13 GB, I had forgotten about this.
