I have noticed a static sound while I am on my new iphone 4s 😟 Is anyone else having problems or know any solutions?

Thanks

I've read of 2 or 3 people that got a new phone that didn't have the static problem.

They got them from AT&T or Orange if I remember correctly.

Most people that got a 2nd or 3rd replacement got them from the Apple Store.

Could it be Apple just gives out the returned phones to other complaining customers, as they seemed fine at first when they tested them in store?

That's about the only thing I can think of. Otherwise people would have to be VERY unlucky to receive 3 brand new phones that all have the static noise. And IF they got 3 brand new phones that all contained static much more people would have to be complaining, right?

I'd just go to the store, check your phone one more time before entering, to make sure you have the issue, and then get a replacement... Just check the replacement phone right outside of the store : )

I'm at home now and static noise is terrible again. At work in the city where I was before is great 3G range and buzzing was less. I have sent e-mail to Apple service with mp3 and link to this thread to explain problem and don't want to see this 4S anymore. S like Static ...

I met a friend who bought the iPhone in Switzerland. We agreed that exchange phones because of their color ( black<>white ). Of course, the rattle follows in myfootsteps 😉 So, we can add Switzerland to the list. Welcome 🙂

Here's how it went for me. I called AppleCare this morning to let them know about the issue. Btw, while I do get static noise while on calls, the amount of static I get is not much - but I do get it and it sure is annoying. Alright, so I called AppleCare and let them know about the issue. I told them that I have done a full restore as a new phone, done a hard reset a couple of time, done a double hard reset and a reset network settings. No luck though. The perosn on the phone set me up with the Genuis for today evening. I stopped by Genius, explained to him the same story that I narrated to the AppleCare person. Genius did a couple of test phone calls using my phone, went back to the relatively quieter back staff room and said that the phone had no issue. I kept telling him that there is static that I get in every phone call and that I am not making this up. He offered to run me a diagnostic and then again confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the phone.

While I was there, the girl next to me had come there for the very same issue. I mentioned this to him and he shrugged as if he never heard it from me. Pure denial. Very frustrating.

I guess in the hindsight, I am ok with not having the phone swapped given that hardly anyone on this forum has had any better luck with the new swapped out phone. So it does not make sense in my opinion to get another handset which will have the same basic issue with it.

I am going to watch this thing over the next week or so and if it means, returning the 4S back and going back to my trusted 3Gs, I am willing to take that road..

Cheers.

Edit: 16 GB White iPhone, in Arizona (USA) on AT&T

After a long struggle with myself finally I decided to replace my 4s to get rid of that noise. I got the replacement today but the noise is still there in the new one. I can difinitly say that it is a widespread issue although some don't care or don't believe that it is handset defect not the carrier or their ears. Even for myself it was unbelievable at the beginning that the most basic task (calling) in a phone ( not even a smartphone) can be problematic with a 900 $ Handset.

Dear friends, I recommend you not to bother yourself with replacing your phone. Lets wait and see if they acknowledge and seek a fix.

I have to believe, that the noise is in all phones.

3 Days ago a friend of mine got his brand new device from his carrier (T-Mobil Germany). I asked him right away if notice the sound. I explaimed him what he should look about (noise when using 3G etc., showed him the youtube video) and he statet that there is no sound on his phone. Yesterday we met and I tried to demonstrate him the sound on my phone. It clearly was there but he said he couldn't hear it. I checked his new one also and I immediatly noticed the crackeling sound when using Safari. He said he's not aware of any sound.

So I think this is nearly in every damm iPhone 4s out there but most people just don't realize it or don't care about it. Very frustrating for me....

Allreeady on my 4th device...
