Nov 17, 2011 10:10 AM in response to arcadiealdeaby beecart,Everyone
Go to: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
And leave feedback for Apple telling them about the problem. The more people that do it surely they'll have to then take it serious and do something about the problem.

Nov 17, 2011 11:37 AM in response to JamiDianneby itunesfail,Same issue I can't reproduce it on command. I got my phone at Best Buy and am within the 30 days window to return. With all these comments saying they have the same issue with new phone I am reluctant to take to best buy or the apple store. I love the phone but the static is driving me crazy. Just don't know what to do.I have mixed feelings.

Nov 17, 2011 11:54 AM in response to NapoleonSoloby arcadiealdea,Unfortunatelly, the noise appears even with Cellular Data switched off. Maybe, it was another cause. I made 2 calls which last around 10 minutes each and the static wasn't there.
The apple policy says that the phone may be replaced only in the first 30 days after purchase? And after that, they send it to service for reparing and if this not succed the go for replacement?

Nov 17, 2011 6:26 PM in response to iMacca350by M.A,The static issue makes an otherwise really nice device SUCK. I'm loving the flawless call quality of the Galaxy S II. I'm not loving Android at all, I love the Apple experience......LESS the crap call quality.
THANKS A TON MR. COOK, I hope the board of directors show you the door real soon.

Nov 17, 2011 11:23 PM in response to JamiDianneby tundres,I just got a new phone as replacement but it got worse. Now I can hear the **** sound in wireless too. I just wrote to apple like beecart said but this problem is quite frustating.

Nov 18, 2011 12:54 AM in response to beecartby basslines,Yes I have given my feedback to Apple. Everyone else who hasn't please do the same. It may help escalate the issue and get Apple fixing it. I now notice that the ticking sound even more near the apple logo when calling. I called my telco again. They said they can't do a refund. But they will honor changing the set at a later date within my 1 year warranty with hopes that it is a batch problem and hopefully apple would have resolved it.
Here is the link to apple from beecart.

Nov 18, 2011 1:43 AM in response to JamiDianneby muppetyoda, same static issue here. Just got back from Apple store with replacement, same issue. 'Genius' hadn't heard of this problem. Posted feedback per link above. Apple need to address this, not a good upgade experience from my previous very reliable 3GS.

Nov 18, 2011 12:56 PM in response to JamiDianneby Airfire,I recorded the noise the phone makes in a video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJeb2jkMsBc
The noise only appears when the phone is sending/receiving data over 3G.
No sound is heard when the phone is connected to WIFI.
The noise can be heard even in a normal phone call and it is really annoying.
The best method to "hear the noise" is to listen on the backside of the phone when loading a webpage over 3G.

Nov 18, 2011 11:45 PM in response to JamiDianneby BasWind,I'm having the same issue (Netherlands - T-Mobile) but I think I have solved it. At least, it seems so at the moment...
Here's what I did:
- I removed the sim card
- I downloaded iOS 5.0.1 directly from apple at http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/041-3305.20111109.Bghy6/iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A405_ Restore.ipsw
- I restored (Option restore) it as a new phone
- After restart the phone asked for a sim and I inserted it
The first time I restored it as a new phone and the static appears gone. The second time I (just over a minute ago) restored from an iCloud backup and there's still no static.
I'll keep monitoring it and let you know if the static comes back or stays away. In the meantime I hope it'll work for you as well!

Nov 19, 2011 1:44 AM in response to minimax55by BasWind,Yep.
I have had a call from 9 minutes - no static
I called to a voice response system where I can allways immediately hear if there is any static 5 times and still I hear no static. Even tried holding it different ways.
I called to another voice response system, also about 5 times, and there was no static.
It still works. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
