Nov 28, 2011 3:07 AM in response to JamiDianneby alex.onciu,I have the same problem... pronounced static noise.
My network is 3G only (2100MHz) - it seems it is worse than what others are reporting on 2g / 3g networks.
I really hope Apple will be able to solve this problem. I like the iPhone 4S as a whole but this issue is really a deal-breaker.

Nov 28, 2011 4:23 AM in response to stimpy9226by basslines,Fyi my experience for all 3 iPhone 4S I tried is
1) Press the Home button to activate SIRI and then put your ear to the earpiece. The static sound will be audible. Do the same thing again and put your ear to the Apple logo behind the phone and you will hear a louder static sound. So the source of the sound seems closer to the Apple logo.
2) Call your friend and you will hear the static when you put your ear to the earpiece and the Apple logo on the phone. Again the static is louder at the Apple Logo.
This happens for both IOS 5.0 and 5.01. No improvements.
There are differneces in the loudness of the static between phones. My colleuge's was pretty much louder than mine.
Still including 3 of my colleuge's phones, all 6 iPhones 4S that I tried had static sound.
Hope this helps.

Nov 28, 2011 7:18 AM in response to JamiDianneby niteshawk,Yes... Apple has solution.
Just like what they did for iPhone 4, gave away free bumper. Now for iPhone 4s they will probably give us additional free headset.
Preparing to return my 2nd iPhone 4s. I kind of believe the defect rate is 100%, does anyone finally get static error free device when replacing it ? I doubt it.

Nov 28, 2011 8:13 AM in response to niteshawkby Tebald,No, I'm on my 4thndevice and all of them had stativ issues.
I could check 8 phones (4 of my own, 4 owned by friends) and all of them had the static sound. Interestingly my Friends all said, there aren't Hearing anything.

Nov 28, 2011 10:12 AM in response to JamiDianneby tundres,I called to apple care to day after my first replacement. The first had this static issue only in 3g. The second had it always and a lot louder. They promise me a new replacement by I told them, I was afraid to become another faulty iPhone, so I ask to get my money back and to return the "phone". I'm tired to lose my time with a "phone" that cannot be used property and I don't want to feel like I'm crazy because every time I call to apple, they say, I'm the first one to complain about that...
When I paid 850 € for this phone a thought, I pay a stupid price because "it works". Now I'm starting to think somthing worse...
I understand the frustration of all of you and I wish you all good luck.

Nov 28, 2011 10:59 AM in response to tundresby ollilay,That was my frustration as well talking to several at Apple store and they always said they never heard of the issue. Yeah right. That's why I ended up getting a refund after the 4th return. Waiting to see if Apple will act like they should. If everyone hasn't already, all need to leave feedback on apple's support site http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Nov 28, 2011 11:08 AM in response to ollilayby mechie8682,I did my part. I have sent them multiple feedback emails already. Everyone, please take time to click on the feedback link and provide information to Apple.

Nov 28, 2011 3:16 PM in response to Norandyby Spicynat,Hello Norandy,
I was wondering were you've changed your iPhone. Where do you live in Switzerland? I live in Geneva and changed mine 3 times at the "Rive" Apple store. And they don't seem to acknowledge that it's a recurrent problem on their iPhones. I'm unfortunately stucked with this phone as I got it with a 24 months contract with orange. I hope you will get a refund.
