Nov 29, 2011 11:36 AM (in response to ollilay)
I went to BGR yesterday and was surprised to see no articles on this issue. So I looked at the editor page and found Zachary epstein and emailed him personally. today there's an article on BGR regarding the issue. That's one person sending one email to one person. Imagine what kind of media attention this would receive if everyone in this forum sent an email. I've included my transaction with mr. Epstein for all those that think I'm making this up. keep at it guys. This isn't acceptable, so we shouldn't accept it! Send your email to an editor today. Feel free to copy and paste what I wrote to mr. Epstein. That seemed to work.
Thanks Luke, I'll definitely check it out.
All the best,
-Zach

I was very surprised that I didn't find the above subject on BGR website. I usually find the real electronic scoop here. Anyway, I'm writing to bring some attention to the fact that almost wery iPhone 4s has a crazily annoying static in the earpiece that occurs during calls. it sounds a great deal like your PC on startup. Not conversation-preventing but unacceptable for a 200$ phone that receives such accolades. As you can see by the link on apples forum it effects many iPhones worldwide, and replacements and software updates hasn't helped. It seems hardware related. and although the forum consensus is questioning why apple isn't aware of it, I think theyre very aware. And that the only answer is a recall. Thanks Bgr

Nov 29, 2011 12:55 PM in response to JamiDianneby Jared7651,I sent this string to engadget, and will to gizmodo also. anyone with energy should also do that. if the tech blogs start to cover this, it will help motivate apple to address the issue. thanks!

Hope to see some results from this! -
Nov 29, 2011 1:41 PM in response to ollilayby b0gdan,I think that someone at apple is paying big money to certain tech websites to keep this quiet....even that article on BGR stated at the end "Apple has not publicly addressed the matter and BGR has been unable to reproduce the bug during tests performed with two iPhone 4S units."
Really BGR?! every single 4s I came across with has this issue. How come not even a major testing website warned us about this ? Because then nobody would have bough this....maybe i'm paranoind but this *****. I miss my old 3gs....

Nov 29, 2011 2:09 PM in response to lukas501by slind,My goal was for several people to hit the same websites. That would underline our concerns and make it more appealing for them to report about it.
So do not hesitate: write about it everywhere you can.
And have a nice evening

Nov 29, 2011 4:55 PM in response to slindby Oritar,I still have the static noise. When I called Apple, they couldn't figure it out. I changed the phone once, same problem. It's upsetting to hear they're ignoring this issue. Is it because they'll need to do a major recall.
Good news is you have a year warranty--but I'm not sure I want another 4S after this.

Nov 29, 2011 5:40 PM in response to Oritarby drzygote,I was just at a friends house and my battery was low so I turned off cellular data.
Then my friend called me, and I still had the static noise.
So for me, it's now not just on 3G.
Fantastic!

Nov 29, 2011 8:39 PM in response to drzygoteby mitchellfromripon,I just got off the phone with apple and they said there's nothing they can do about the static issue that I'm having and that since this is my 4th replacement they are referring me to my wireless carrier! This ******* *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nov 29, 2011 8:43 PM in response to JamiDianneby Spicynat,Hello again everyone, I was testing some stuff on my iPhone and discovered something as lot of people talk about the 3G data being the reason of the noise. So actually now I would love to know what happens if people that don't have the static issue on their iPhone do this: go on safari using the 3G only, then press refresh then put your phone on your ear as if you were going to call. Do you hear a noise? Please try to make that test in a quiet room.
I noticed that if I do the same with the wifi the noise is also there but not as loud as with the 3G. What about you?

Nov 29, 2011 9:05 PM in response to mitchellfromriponby basslines,1) it is the phone problem and now it becomes your problem.
2) being the 4th replacement is not a valid reason. Your phone is under warranty and has a static problem. It does not mean that apple should push the problem to your carrier. They have admitted to the problem by allowing you to change 4 times up till now but declined because they are afraid that it would not solve the problem. They should solve the problem and be certain that the static is no more there.
3) by right if apple can't solve the problem, then they should not sell such faulty phones and give customers the option to get back their hard earned money.

> put your ear to the Apple logo behind the phone and you will hear a louder static sound.
True!!!
I could heard the static noise on there and near by the Dock connector behind the iPhone 4S.
The static at behind is sounding while in communicating. I think that is a switching noise on power-regulator for cellular module.

Nov 29, 2011 9:39 PM in response to basslinesby Oritar,Could it be steve jobs is desperately trying to communicate to his company through the iPhone, and that's what's making the static. He's saying: "hey, don't screw up my company now that I'm gone!" The message is not getting through.
