Going to the apple store is always a lousy experience. Apple phone support  has always been good in my experience though. Spoke to them this morning and they said i could wait awhile before sending it back, so if it is a hardware issue i can just send it back for a new one. I think i'd rather be without the phone for a week than have to deal with the apple store. They like to assume everyone is an idiot when people on this forum would run circles around their "geniuses" in terms of tech knowledge.

I agree that this second and worse antennagate surely will be a big blow to Apple. Many people said: "Even a dumb donkey will not fall into the same hole again", but apparently Apple is worse than a donkey.

Noway that they will admit this, but we have to fight for our right to get working product. We will win !

Mine's an unlimited plan and I have static when using Siri or calling. I use emails on my phone. So I believe data transfers occur very often. They may trigger some chip or component to make the tiny crackling static sounds. I never had this on my 3GS. If this was a hifi system that has consistent static sound, I would take it back too. Similarly a phone is mostly used for hearing the other caller. So as a user this is not an acceptable phone.

I've called Apple and I will be refunded. Be carful, in switzerland you can return your iPhone (product) after 14 days only for your money back !

I'm done with some iPhone utile the problem will be solved ! I will use my old iPhone V1 or buy a Nokia N9 to try something else...

    Hello again Norandy,

Yes geniuses are terrible at rive apple store. They told me the exact same thing in stead of apologizing for the inconveniences. I think it's great you've contacted those 2 websites and I hope things will move and that Apple will finally find a way to resolve the problem. I'm happy to know that you will get a refund. I hope at some point I will be able to have an iPhone working correctly. Bonne soirée ;)

Exactly the same problem. If I turn off my wireless lan and open a big website over my provider, i hear a very loud sound from the back of my iPhone 4S. I dont think that Apple can fix this issue with a software update. Sad.

I have AT&T's unlimited Internet plan, but I doubt that is the issue as majority of the time my phone is utilizing wifi.

    Same here craigmash,

I have unlimited data grandfathered in on an AT&T plan.

EDIT, as I forgot to mention though that I gave up on the 4S and got the Samsung GSII.....No static here

    Norandy,

Try the Samsung Galaxy S II. You will very much enjoy it although there is a bit of a learning curve on the Android OS, I'm not crazy about the Android OS but the Samsung KILLS the 4S everywhere else.

I owned every iPhone from the beginning and used the Galaxy S2 for several month. In every aspect (besides the lousy camera) it beats the iPhone to the ground. Still got one flying around here. It is amazing if you don't depend on low light video recording and don't mind a red spot on white photo backgrounds.

    Battery life is exceptional

Phone survives drops with minor scratches that would kill an iPhone. Battery and memory are replaceable etc. etc.

Oh and it's half the price with a twice as long warranty.

I really regret purchasing my 4s at this point. I've swapped it out three times, this is clearly a hardware issue that's not going to get resolved. I've thrown in the towel.  I've used my wife's upgrade and went with another phone.

Best of luck to everyone who is experiencing the same frustrations and is holding out for some kind of fix.

just made another call and another call drop! Within 2 hours from the same place. Funny is that there is 5 bars and a call drop? I know this is a discussion for static but anyone faced this as well?

I find this attitude that you have a "right" to a working product to your satisfaction to be humorous at best.

While I am not as thrilled with the quality of the iPhone 4S and it will make me think twice about further Apple products, there is no "right" to a product.  You chose to buy something, and as a consumer you can either complain to the manufacturer and if they don't give you satisfaction you take your money elsewhere; there is no "right" here, you have ample time to judge the phone and return it if you don't care for it.

This is about business, and you don't "have" to use a new iPhone 4S and have it .  You have a "right" to the pursuit of happiness, that's about it despite what nonsense people call a "right" these days.

Jeff.. car is a product as well right ?

If you just in case buy a defect car thus at the end it happens that defect lead you to an accident, will you say it is just all about business ?

In my opinion, we are customer who have right to get working product, of course you can return it if you don't like it, thats why there is time window where you can return the product to protect your right. If there is a flaw in the product, at least the manufactur has to acknowledge it, recall it or they have inform this to all potential customer.

And the problem is, Apple doesn't do it.
