unable to activate iCloud.

The message on my iphone and iMac says that I have to follow the instructions in the email they have sent me, but I have received no mail! The address of course is correct, active and properly functioning. But no incoming mails from iCloud.

Anyone can help?

My User Name was verified by email, but the iCloud icon is greyed-out in my iPhone Settings; so I can't activate iCloud.

Apparently, iCloud cannot be activated on my 3GS iOS5 device, unless I have a qualifying computer... my laptop is a Windows XP SP3. So I'd have to buy a new computer in order to activate iCloud? No sense upgrading to a 4S iPhone either, in that case.

Anyone know why Windows XP PCs were not considered in iOS5 design? I suppose they had to limit backward compatibility to some point. But there must be quite a few out there with Windoes XP besides me.

Yes, I did get iCloud activated... the problem was a setting on my 3GS: Settings, General, Restrictions, Accounts, Allow Changes.

I had previously blocked Account Changes. After changing it to Allow Changes, iCloud activated. So now I can sync the 3GS to iCloud, and 3GS to iTunes on my Windows XP laptop.

What puzzles me is that, when I just now synced the 3GS to iCloud via iTunes, it also worked! Supposedly, Windows XP and iCloud don't work together.

I'm not sure how to verify that the sync actually worked; but there were no error flags, and all Apps, music, & books are still intact.

I guess I'd have to do a Restore from iCloud to check, but for now I'm leaving well-enough alone.
