Just upgraded my ipad 2 to ios 5. Some apps that worked fine before upgrading ios, now close a few seconds after opening them. Any clues on how to solve this? (already tried reboot, delete app and re-install... doesn't work)

Same thing happens to my iPad 2 while trying to switch to the App store app while its already running. Then I have to start it again and it works.
Same problem here, I have a bunch of applications that don't run at all (but they still show in the multi-tasking window though). iBooks being one that no longer runs; isnt't it an Apple App?
i'm pretty sure you have to make sure you have ALL app updates and then you have to turn app syncing off on the computer's itunes and back on.
Download a free app from the App Store. Once it downloads, your other apps should work properly again.
Thanks for the replies. None of the above solves the problem. Not an expert on apple products, but sine some apps work fine with ios5, could it be that the ones that don't just need an update fron the developer?

I was under the impression that any apps that you currently had on your iPad would work with the new updated iOS. However, I can't remember why I even think that but I probably read here on this site.
In any event, I believe the overwhelming majority of your apps should still work even if some will not under the new iOS. What I'm saying is that there may be something else going on that will require something additional on your part - perhaps restoring your device to factory settings and then restore to your backup.
iBooks is an Apple App but there are other reasons why the apps could be crashing. You could try closing all of the apps in the recents tray and restart and see if that helps, but you may need to restore your device(s) if nothing else works.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus ➖ sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
After rebooting, erasing apps and re-installing them, downloading a free app, and basically doing everything advised above, I just finished restoring the original settings of the ipad. Unfortunately, the apps keep closing after a few seconds they're opened. Guess I'll stick with the theory of some apps not working under ios 5, and therefore requiring an update from the developer.

It's not an app problem, it's an iOS 5 problem. I've got apps that work on iOS 5 on one of my devices but do not work on another.
Both devices had the "apps-start-but-flicker-off" problem. The load-a-free-app worked on one device, all of the third party apps now work. But it didn't on the other device.
The solution (one of them, that worked for me, anyway) is simple: CLICK ON SYNC with your updated iPad connected to iTunes.
Then, as a precaution reboot it, after sync'ing, and you will be able to launch all your apps normally. Not sure why Apple didn't make this crucial last step crystal clear.

There's no way. I've tried everything but nothing seems to solve the problem with 2 of my apps.
I thought I was going crazy! Mine is doing the same thing on my iPad 2.
Well, it seems I'm not the only one unable to solve this issue. I've heard others have the same problem with their iphones after updating to ios 5.
Anybody has come with a solution for the ipad 2 that will work?
