Q: Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications message

I have an iPhone 4 and I updated it to iOS 5 a few days ago and when I open up applictions like Facebook, Twitter, Bump, and others that use notifications, I get a message as soon as the appliction opens that says, "Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications". I have connected my iPhone to iTunes and synced it but that is not solving the problem. Because of this I am not recieving notifications from third party applictions. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also, everytime I open the YouTube application I get a message saying, "Cannot connect to YouTube" and I am not able to use YouTube at all because of this. Anyway to fix this?

(I forgot to mention my iPhone is NOT jailbroken and has never been jailbroken.)

same app and same problem, check out that old article - explains "why" and HOW.

BTW that token comes from Square, or you would have problem with all apps.

Thanks for this idea ... but here is the thing:

I have a Mac at home where my iPhone 4S is backed up. Now I am on the road without that computer and only have access to Windows PC's.

So if I backup to a Windows PC, and then reset the phone and then restore from backup, will it kill my connection to the iTunes I have at home?

same app, same problem as well as not having a computer to even back up to because the laptop I use at home is too old to upgrade to a syncable OS/iTunes version. Any attainable fixes directly through the iphone?

Thanks jaithorpe. Your fix worked for me too!

Initially I only chose General > Reset All Settings, but this did not work after two tries.

Then I tried General > Erase All Content and Settings... this worked!

(Caution. If you do this, first create a back-up. I made a backup through iCloud. Then be prepared to spend quite a bit of time re-installing your data. I have a 32 GB iPad and it took several hours because of one application that had more than 1GB of data).

    Thanks again.

    Ian.

Does anyone have a solution that helps ios7 beta on iPad?

Magazines such as Wired now go into an endless loop of "Connect to ITunes to use Push Notifications" alerts and it essentially crashes my iPad because home button does not respond.  It requires a complete restart of the iPad.

    Right - help!

Im on a 4s 16gb IOS 7.0.2. Followed everyone's tips of backing up then doing a restore. Have done this 4 times now and still get the same old "connect to iTunes to use Push notifications"...

I don't want to restore to factory settings as I lose all my music collection.... or do I?

I backed up to iCloud, then did a total restore.  It worked!  I had the message on my Snapchat and Fantasy Football app, and sometimes on other apps.

Guys I tried the following and everything worked PERFECTLY!!!! and i didnt restore or anything.

1- when updating the IOS it has "Icloud keychain".  (Under settings----> Icloud).  go there and ENABLE it.  It will ask for passcode and so on.  so once enabled

2- restart your phone (normal power off)

3- Sync on itunes on your pc or man (it might work without sync, havent tried it)

4- reactivate imessage and facetime. (need a few minutes to reactivate)

    5- ALL WORKING  ;-)

I hope it works for you guys.

I updated my iPhone 4 to ios 7.0.3 last night and this happened. What I did to fix this was really simple:

    1) power off the phone

    2) open iTunes first and then connect with the phone (it should restart automatically)

    3) wait until the connection is done

    4) problem SOLVED!!!!!

I didn't backup or restore the phone before I tried this simple solution. And no settings were changed. Did sync for a few times but didn't work.

This worked for me and resolved the issue (occurring in Newsstand/Wired). No need to do a reset/restore and didn't have to sync with my Mac either. Thanks for the fix!
