Sounds fishy to me...
Don't use Voiceover. Just tap the power button (not the home button at all, let alone pressing and holding it to invoke Voiceover) one time, then enter your password.
In voiceover mode, you have to tap items on your screen twice to make them press.
With voice over you highlight whater you are trying to select and then double tap anwhere on the screen to select.
So for your password of 1234 you have to
"highlight 1, then double tap the screen, Highlight 2, the double tap the screen,... etc."
In order to remove the only option i know of is to reset your phone.
1. In order to do so, highlight "setting"
Double tap screen to go into settings
2. use 3 fingers to (swipe) scroll of down
3. highlight reset, then double tap on the screen
4. From there you can follow instructions to reset your phone.
You dont lose any data or music if you reset.
Hope this helps.
Voiceover can be turned on by triple-clicking the home button. To turn it off, triple-click the home button. This feature can be turned off by going to Settings->General->Accessibility, then scroll down to Triple-click Home and turn it off. You can also turn off Voiceover on the Accessibility screen.
thank you! Yes, 3 clicks on the home button did it!
You can also change the settings through iTunes under "Configure Uninversal Access".
But I can vouch that there is some bug that does not allow you to enter your passcode - that it comes up as invalid - in voice over mode. Pressing each button twice to enter each number, you think it's correct, but says that it's not. It was completely infuriating.
godsavethegeevesis correct. The best way to get rid of the VoiceOver with a phone that is locked is to hook it up to iTunes, go to Summary page, scroll down to "Configure Universal Access" and disable VoiceOver. Then click on "Apply". It will ask you for the password and you will be able to enter it on the iPhone the normal way. What a pain this has been. Badly configured feature.
OMG! I tried activating Voiceover as to allow for iBook audio capability.....do not do it.
What I then got was what the original poster had. I had to tap and double tap my way back to sanity.
