Thank you for all the feedback folks - please keep them coming, as the more people point out the problems they are having since upgrading to iOS5, the more chance of Apple possibly acting on it and building a fix into an update.
It's good to hear Ford may at least be on it with an update, but as originally stated I do not see why I should have to go to this hassle prior to my next service (February 2012) when it is Apple's update which is caused all the problems. It sounds like it was fine for most people beforehand. Unlike Apple's product, this is not some easy download upgrade - there is a very real chance my Ford dealer will look at me blankly and have no clue how to upgrade my radio. To do so is also a major pain when I have to work 8 til 5 Monday to Friday. While I rely on my phone in my car for work, I cannot justify taking time off when I feel like it just to upgrade my car's radio. I don't want to have to give up precious weekend time off sorting this issue which shouldn't be happening in the first place.
I understand the issue with iOS5 is due to some extra bluetooth data the phone is outputting with track info and art etc. Great in theory. To be fair though really I don't care about that especially I just want it back to working as it was previously. In fact I would happily downgrade back to iOS4 if I were allowed to do so - my phone working reliably is much more important to me than the likes of iCloud which really don't add much for me anyway.
I would like to see Apple add some options within Settings > General > Bluetooth, so the user can opt for basic output (i.e. as it was - working), or more advanced output (i.e. the extra data, if your equipment can cope with it.
Anyone from Apple reading this and able to, 1) respond 2) get an update actioned?
