I just got my new iPhone 4S and I have already tried restoring all settings but still - when I go to the Calendar, I am unable to add a new event or appt. There is no + sign and tapping on the screen does not work either.
Any ideas?
I had the same issue, I went back and connected to my MAC to re-sync with itunes / calendars and it fixed the problem.

I don't have a MAC. When I connected with Itunes to sync calendars, it says, "No supported calendar applications can be found." Suggestions?
I found this on another forum and it worked:
Go to the iCloud settings and turn it on for your calendar (and contacts if you're having trouble with that as well, because I was).
I was immediately able to create events and contacts after that. Once you've turned on iCloud for those apps and they've been fixed, you can shut it off again and shouldn't have any trouble.

Do you not have outlook? On PC that's the calendar app needed
Unfortunately, I do not have Outlook. Our campus uses Groupwise. 😟 I just add events/appointments directly to the IPhone. There will be no syncing for me. [sigh]
