iTunes Check Box next to songs is missing

couldn't find a previous thread on this one.

I don't know when it happened, but I just realized that the option to check or uncheck individual songs has gone missing in the iTunes on my 27inch 2.93GHz Intel Core i7 iMac running OS X 10.7.2 and iTunes 10.5.

I wanted to uncheck all my holiday songs and then tell my iPhone to only sync checked items, but that option is greyed out in my iPhone Summary page. Also, the option to only include checked songs in a Smart Playlist is also greyed out.

On my MacBook...also running OS X 10.7.2 and iTunes 10.5 the check boxes are there and the options above are not greyed out.

I'm considering uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it as a possible fix, but wanted to see what other people had to say before I took this drastic measure. As long as I don't delete my media files or my iTunes Library file it shouldn't affect anything to reinstall iTunes...Right?

Thanks,

Kevin

I believe the new updates that have been going on in iTunes must have defaulted it or turned it off. Either way, thanks guys for helping me find it. I share my library with my brother and when I went to shuffle, I got some unwanted tracks (also, I have audiobooks and that was weird hearing Chapter 13 suddenly start while I'm bopping off to Shuffle)

Also, for anyone looking at this thread. Go to Edit-->Preferences, then hit "show: list view checkbox" and it will again give you the option.
