solution for no mms/sms with iPhone 4s?

Sounds like a carrier issue to me... I'd try contacting my service provider first...

What color is it? Seems silly I know, but i'm having the same issues with my white 4s, not my black.

I have got my white replaced, still no joy. Swapped sims back and forth....even on different black 4s's, the whites never send or recieve mms.

Mine is a 16GB white iPhone and I have the same issue. I'm able to send MMS but can not receive them.

Tried my sim in a black iPhone 4s and I can receive them.

The issue is with my iPhone and not with the sim/carrier.

All the settings were the same on the black version as it is on my white. I've even restored to a factory vanilla version of the software to rule out anything I may have installed/set/unset, but still no joy.

So just to add to this. I've talked to someone with a white Verizon, and a white vodaphone with the same issues.

To me, this is clearly a white 4s issue...

Ahh! Ok, well...I'm litterly at a apple store as we speak I let the folks here at the Genius bar know a few days ago, I'm using one of their iMacs to type this, but I'll let you know what they have or havent found out as soon as he gets back to me

If they resolve it or not can you post the case number either here or on vodafone site so I can use as reference if I visit Apple in the UK.

It's going to be a 2 hour wait for someone here, so I made a appointment for Friday am. Since I'll be out of town tomorrow. I'll put that case number on here for you certainly. I dont have anything like that yet since its just a "escalation" I hope to have more useful info from apple on Friday

I'm on my way there now. My appt is at 10:30 pst. I hope they have a solution for this today, especially for the fact that I'm tired of hearing my wife complain about it haha

I had he same issue with my 4S, and called 02 here in the UK, Apple have sent a tech bulletin to the air time providers. This is an iOS5 issue that Apple aim to resolve by 31st Oct.

There is a work around as follows

Open settings-general-network-cellular data network, then scroll down to MMS and look for MMS Max Message Size, change the size to 500000.

Then close settings.

You should now be able to send MMS messages.

I'm not having an issue sending MMS (they seem happy to take my money for them!) but I did try your solution but still no joy in receiving them.

Hopefully Apple will have a solution.

Yeah on AT&T I can't edit mms settings or ANP info....yet. But I'm here they are going to go back to basics and wife the phone with a fresh restore. Try it with NO back up. And see, becasue they seem to think its a error in the backup causing the issue. I my self, am not buying it, but I'm willing to humor them to get a solution in motion....I'll keep you updated

Yeah - done the basics. Went back to a completely blank factory reset phone. Didn't even give it my iTunes details incase iMessage was screwing with it.

They must have a white demo phone that works in the apple store??

Right, you would think so. They just have a white sprint phone thats not activated so that doesn't work.

BUT, he just told me he put my sim in another white phone and it didn't work. So he wanted me to go back to my carrier and bla bla bla.. I stopped him and said to use my sim because it DOES work. He did do and....weird didn't work. So they are on board with the fact that WHITE 4s's are the issue.

He is in back now trying to find out about a firmware update.

He also is working to see if she can swap to a black phone. Although I don't exactly think my wife will go for that.

So....It sounds like there is going to hve to be a firmware update for this. Saying that software can fix it. My brain seems to tell me when 2 phones are using the same firmware now and 1 doesn't work, that its a HARDWARE issue, not software.
