When I first accessed the new reminders app I clicked 'do not use my location'. However, I want to use the location reminder, but I can not find it in my settings to change my preferences. Anyone know how to turn the location on? Does it even work on 3GS?

It's definitely on 3gs with iOS 5.... Click settings... and make sure your at the first page of settings... click the back button on the upper left if your not on the first page... on the same screen as 'airplane mode' 'wi-fi' etc... its the 4th down.

SO, I have the reminders app, but to do location based reminders or notifications, is it correct that you have to have the location in your contacts? It's not like I am going to add every store that I frequent to my contacts? Is there an easier way? this is my first iPhone, I was an Android guy, with all kinds of easy ways of doing this, I am finding the iPhone trying, at best.
No, location based reminders are only available on the iPhones 4 and 4S. They are not available on the 3GS or either iPad. Sorry.
I am using the apple iPhone 4s. I see how to turn notification for location on, with the task, but it won't let me just enter an address, like any other OS would.

I have the same problem and I don't find the Reminders App in the location services.
I have iCloud on, Location Services ON, and not what!
Ridiculous that its not supported even for the latest iPad.

I had the same problem. By trial and error I turned off the reminders coming from my work-place microsoft exchange server account in "Mail, Contacts, Calendars". Left mail, and calendar, contacts etc on but turned off reminders. The only reminders in "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" that I left on is in iCloud.
The reminder app then appeared in the "location services" list and can be turned on.
Sorry Mr Brian that is BS. On 3GS device there is no location setting for reminders. Apple doesn't tell you, but thats a fact, probably because o battery issues.
