error 1645

Can someone explain to me what 'error 1645' entails?

I updated my iPad2 yesterday - from 4.3.5 to 5.0 and got this error message. iTunes eventually repaired it, and to my surprise 5.0 was installed (this time correctly).

iPad 2, iOS 5, WIFI-3G 16 gb

thank you apfelwurm, i checked both of them and says "did you try to restart?". "yea i did, my father has a software company" anyway i've just (literaly) gave my ipad to the technical support, although when i asked them they said "we will restore it from itunes with a mac" =) good luck with that i tried exactly same thing for two days. a reseller told me that i was like the 10th person today who has the same ios 5 problem.

In my case (iPad updating to iOS 5.0), iPad entered into a continuous loop of rebooting and shotting down and not accepting any of the commands given by the buttons on it. Only apple sign was showing on the screen and disappearing with each cycle.

It turns out that the Apple "in-ear headphones with remote and mic" were defective and as soon as I unplugged it, the cycle was broken!!!

Just wanted to drop a line hoping that it may save some time to one of you.

Hi,

Just wanted to comment on this error as i am experiencing the same thing with my iPhone 3GS. After upgrading to iOS5.0.1 I got the dreaded 'spinning wheel of death' which is actually a boot loop that never gets past the apple logo or the spinning wheel. I have to agree with the folks who mentioned hardware issues as the culprit. However, seeing that others have disconnected different pieces of hardware it seems to be a general code for 'any' peripheral connected to the logic board. Not sure about the internals of and iPad, but on my iPhone i disconnected devices one at a time until finally breaking the cycle by unplugging the small ribbon cable from the logic board to the motion sensor. Not too much help from Apple on the reason, fix, or information, but kerimof having a defective headphones/jack and with mine being the sensor i'd be tempted to look at something inside the device itself. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, and it's definitely not what I wanted as the end result to the same problem, but it was the ONLY way i could get the thing to the home screen. I have also heard of some building profiles using the iPhone(or iPad) Configuration Utility, but i would assume you would need knowledge of Apple's boot ROM code that i'm sure you can't get unless you're God so good luck and I hope this helps a bit.

Hello all, I was also unable to find the error code 1645 in the KB but I found that if you do a restore in recovery mode you should be able to proceed with the restore.

You may have to repeat steps 3-5 multiple times, but once you are able to get the device turned off it should detech it in recovery mode and you can finalize the restoring process.
