Apple ID/password doesn't get accepted after iOS 5 update.

so i updated to iOS 5 on my iPad, and it went all good in the beginning. itunes did it's job. i opened my iPad and it said that the restore was successful, and that i have a few more steps to do to get it done.
i enabled location services, chose my wi-fi network and then it said i need to sign in with my Apple ID. so i did that. after that i put in my birthday and agreed to the tems and conditions.
now here's the problem.

a notification appears:

"Could Not Sign In
Apple ID couldn't be created because of a server error."

i don't know what's wrong. i've been using this ID since forever. i changed my password few months back, but i don't think that should be a problem. i've been trying over and over again and it's really frustrating!

help?

I had the same issue happen. I noted that I was also asked for my birthdate when I registered in iOS 5 for iCloud. I logged in to http://appleID.apple.com and checked my data and found my birthdate info was blank there. Once I entered a birthdate there and entered the same birthdate on the iphone iOS 5 iCloud registration fields, the registration went through without a hitch. So check your appleid info and see if there are mismatches between your profile and what you're entering to register with iCloud. I hope that helps you.

I had the same problem as Naiant. Your suggestion fixed it, so thank you for the tip.

I noticed when I checked my birthdate at the account info page http://appleID.apple.com

that my birthyear was missing. When I changed that, it made me change my password, and they seem to have new requirements for more secure passwords (a good thing!)

It worked out after I changed birthdate and password.

Good tip!
