iPhone 4S dropping network and data at random

Hi,

I've been using an iPhone 4 on a Vodafone contract for the past 16 month and just bought an iPhone 4S direct from Apple. It arrived on Friday morning and I got it set up correctly as far as I can tell.

When I first turn it on, it works lovely and exactly as I would expect, able to make calls, send texts and access the internet via the cellular network. However, at what appears to be random, the network will disappear (no bars of signal) stopping me making calls and texts, but still allowing me to access the internet. Sometimes, the Internet goes, but I can still make calls and texts. Other times, everything is gone and I get "No Signal" where it normally says Vodafone UK.

So when trying to fix this problem after it's noticed, I try putting it into Airplane mode and back out. The phone scans for a network and goes back to the same state as before I tried this fix. I have tried resetting network settings, but this doesn't change anything. The only thing that actually fixes it temporarily is turning the phone right off and back on again.

At this stage I assume this is a bug with the software, but I wondered if anyone else is experiencing anything like this? If no one is, I will take it up with Apple, but I don't really want to do that as I love the new phone so much!!

Cheers, Stuart

i'm from Philippines and using 128k sim provided by my service provider Globe. i also have a new iphone 4s which was originally working but when i updated to 5.0.1 the signal or network connection keeps dropping. the solutions posted by several people here are just temporary coz i've tried them all and still the problem is the same. APPLE has to make a new update to correct this all.

I can't make calls. I can't recieve calls. I can't text. I can't recieve texts. The phone constantly hunts for signal. This is not an iPhone. It's an "iCan'tUseItPhone" Not only is my phone absolutely useless. Here's another issue with the 5.0.1 update. My iPhone 4 or 3GS would immediately display "No SIM" if you remove the SIM. Yet my 4S shows signal and a provider. Makes me think of what the "S" in 4S stands for. **** perhaps....A little help here Apple.

Same $#%@ here, without sim it shows signal.

But i can recieve calls and texts, but when i try to call, it drops signal and start searching it and after some time i can make 1 call or send 1 sms, and then @#$% startin again.

And also after, i don't know, maybe 5 hours it says SIM failure, invalid sim and only reboot helps.

It worst iPhone yet.

Same thing here. It's that **** IOS 5.0.1 Everything was fine on 5.0 except battery drainage but now I wish the problem were only battery drainage! I think Apple is trying to tell us something. Don't **** with us or else! It seems that many people are desperate for solutions even switching to 128k SIM's which I find it hard to believe solves anything since my SIM works just fine in other phones. It's definitely a software issue or all the times I told Siri to shut the **** up. I think she's ****** and is on the path to vengeance.
